I was thinking of getting the Zumba fitness. Has anyone tried it, and what were your results? Thanks! :)

  • I have it. I think there are two different series of it but I have a the first one and I love it. My favorite part about it is the upbeat feeling you get after doing it. Also it's fun and to me it wasn't hard to get myself to do everyday but it all depends on if you are into dancing.

A dvd is basically a series of different styles of dancing kind of mixed with different old school circuit training exercises like lunges and squats.

In mine there was a sculpt and tone, 45 min; cardio express, 45 min, then there was a beginners video to help with the moves and two 20 minute workouts if you are busy.

The results I noticed were some major loss and definition in my legs, hips, and abs, as well as having nice energy and help with coordination.

Bottom Line: It's a good way to up your cardio. I really suggest it if you like dancing and want something it's easy to stick to.

Thank you! I love dancing! I HATE cardio! Its like a 4-letter word to me lol! So I thought if I could find something I liked, I could trick myself into doing it, lol! I think I'll give it a try!
  • For me when I first started out exercising I did not want to do it so Zumba was a life saver. Good luck! :)

I do a class once or twice a week and it's great fun. It also burns a ton of calories. I'm not the most coordinated person, but many in the class are in the same boat, but as long as we keep moving it's fine. It also helped me make peace with my booty because women who are a little curvier there actually do better. Zumba tones everything, especially core. It makes a difference to do it in a class. Once we had only one guy in the class, and he'd come and bring party noise makers and stuff, and the gals loved it. It was a blast.

I hate cardio too, LOVE Zumba. I can't get on a machine, but I can dance my butt off.

I have also done ballet, jazz and hip hop class.

I do Zumba classes as well as some of the videos at home.

I get a much better workout in the class with lots of other people around. It just seems like it is more fun so I do more. I have several different videos (including tapes of the class I take live) and it is just a very different feel doing it alone. I do the videos on days when I don't go to a live class but the live classes are soooo much better IMO.

I bought a Zumba Fitness set of DVDs for my daughter for Christmas. They are great. But here's the warning. I thought I was buying the same thing at a local box store and when I got home, it was "animated". It's hard to follow the moves on an animated DVD, even though they are the same as on the live workout videos. Just beware of what you are getting. Other than that, I LOVE the Zumba burn!

I love zumba, there are tons of videos on youtube.

But my best video so far is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D10JOoDBiEI&list=UUcPNVX1c4AZlaaPcZS_LzHw it's 40 minutes long and it's pretty intense! :))

The idea behind Zumba is to use movements inspired by Latin dance and music that create a work out- that's supposed to be fun :)

I'm an instructor and with my HRM burn about 650-750 calories a class- but that is keeping my energy up for a class. Your range may vary as it is what you put into it.

My suggestion would be to look at youtube videos or to try a live class. DO NOT get the Zumba kit/videos offered on Amazon. I personally do not like them and they are not indicative of what an actual live Zumba class will be like. Plus, it's expensive ($60-$80)

The energy of a live class is really fun! And don't worry about falling, looking odd. Pick a class, go to the FRONT of the class where you'll be able to see best, do it at your own pace, but most of all -HAVE FUN.

Good luck and hope you enjoy it! It really is a great work out and I have seen soooo many folks in my class and other classes that start out taking the class and 2-3 months down the road their bodies become slimmer and they put more and more effort into the moves.

Remember that every instructor is different- so if you don't like the initial class you pick out- try someone different.

If you have any questions, you're welcome to e-mail me.

I absolutely LOVE zumba. You don't even feel like you're working out - it's just so much fun and dancing! After I'm all done I'm sweating like crazy and I've burned more calories than I would have jogging!

    Zumba is amazing. :)
