I didn't get to read everyone's posts yet, so I will go back and do that, but I hope everyone had a great weekend!
I did briefly skim about your neice coming home KAtie!:drinker:
I had a crazy week as usual. I sang at the senior day on Thurs, and yesterday I ran in a running relay....WHAT FUN! It was definitely different!
I need to get my eating back under control though:grumble: I have been slacking lately and that has to stop!
What does you week look like?0 -
This week starts off all the Christmas parties! I love it & hate it at the same time, I love Christmas and all the fun but hate all the food & being so busy that I don't workout like I should. I have already had a bad couple of days lately with DH's schedule & being on call at work that I haven't gotten to the gym, that WILL end today! I will get to the gym tonight, even if it means just a quick trip, something is better than nothing especially this time of year since I don't get outside running around with the kiddos. We have DH's squadron Christmas party this Friday night and I have had a hard time finding something to wear. Don't want to buy something new but still have to much baby weight to wear much of my nice older stuff. I think I managed to fit into some black dress pants with my postpregnancy underware, haha! So I just bought a nice sweater, thankgoodness it isn't a formal thing. But just realized this morning that I better make sure I can sit down in the pants without ripping something, boy would that be embaressing! Can't do a dress because I will have DS#4 with us & will have to be able to nurse him so that's out which means I have to wear something that may not be to comfy on my belly which is wear all the weight is now, may have to stay standing alot!! Just gotta get through this then every other party is comfy casual so I will be fine & hopefully next year at this time will be looking great in something new and in a smaller size!!0

Cool! I would love to get in touch with other SAHMs!!!0

hey, woman! thanks for posting up. i was just catching up on the rdg, and then BOOM, there was the new link!
Mama--welcome! this is one of THE best threads out there. we totally get what it is like to put exercise/healthy eating on the list for us mom's while still balancing running the home.
Blessed to 3--welcome back! Kim, Amy and I have had the same struggles. In fact, I have gained wt. That picture in my profile is from a year ago. I was a good 6# thinner in it. Great job on the burning cals--730?? whew!! Suggestion for the pastries--bring them to a neighbor, fire station, or freeze 1/2 to save for January, or give to one of the kids' mommies. Point is, reduce the # or visual cue so you don't WANT them so much.
How is homeschooling going this year? We are still adjusting but i hope this week will be extra fun for her. We ar doing a "Winter Wonders" unit from The Old Schoolhouse.
FYI: I did well on the water all week and got in more fruits. Yesterday was my strongest day yet! I know my ticker shows a gain, but i am actually DOWN a # from last week. I had gotten up to 144 (achhhh!) and now back to 143. Goal to be at 139 by Dec 31. Also, I got in 2 exercise days with my new leslie sansone dvd. yay!!
whoa.....LONG post. Better go get kiddos on the move. Have a GREAT monday everyone!0 -
Nicole~how did the singing go?
Mama~Whew that is not my fav! I am so glad that it looks like I won't be having many parties to go to this year. Yay!
Welcome Panda!
Stacey~way to go on the water, fruits and the exercise!:drinker:
Got to take the car into get fixed today so I am going to be w/o a car for a day or so:grumble: I can do it though I have before I can do it again for a day. The rest of the week just the same old babysitting for my friend BUT next Saturday I am hosting a chocolate tasting party for Trish (drborkbork). As for the eating for me it has not been pretty! :noway: Yesterday I decided that it would be yummy to take oreos and use it as a spoon for pudding. YEP I was right it was problem was that is was way to good for me to do! :grumble: I really need to get back into the tracking my food and being accountable so that I can get losing some more lbs! Got to go the hubby is needing the comp back for work.0 -
Hey, y'all! Was SOOO busy last week, didn't get a chance to check in very often...
Welcome, Panda!
Stacey~I love your new picture! You are doing great on the exercise, keep up the good work!
Mama~I hear you about the Christmas parties...thankfully I only have a few this year! But I stay busy anyway.
KatieM~good luck getting through without a car! And you can totally do it (logging your food). We believe in you!
Nicole~we are dying to know, how did the singing go??
This week is just so busy for me. I mentioned a week or so ago that I volunteered to be the Family Readiness Group treasurer. Well, I am that no longer. The Man came home and said that they needed someone to be the LEADER, and no one wanted to volunteer, so he volun-told me I should do it.So I've got leadership training coming up, a volunteer meeting tomorrow night, after Christmas decorating at the battalion in the morning. Baking cookings for the insurance guy on post (who is getting the insurance company to pay for the milage for all my trips to Atlanta with Daughter #2). A ladies group meeting on Thursday morning where I'm bringing in baked goods for an auction (and hopefully getting my name out there for people to order yummy goodies from me), and then ANOTHER ladies supper that night. Friday will be spent baking for the battalion Christmas party since I volunteered to bring in goodies for the cake walk.
If no one hears from me in a while, just follow the trail of flour...you'll find me eventually.0 -
Hi all! Sounds like everyone is gearing up to battle the holiday binge eating of junk. I am trying to follow the 3 bite rule for those times. Trying is the operative word. If I have to go to a party. I eat something healthy as a snack/meal before hand. That way I am not so starved when I arrive. I plan to drink water while I am there--NO SODA! Then I will scope out all the goodies available. If it is a fresh vegie or fruit--I will eat it. Then I will pick the ONE thing there that I cannot live without. Like Peanut Butter oreos--that is what I couldn't resist a couple of weekends ago. So I ate one--three bites worth. That will not kill me and it helps with the feeling deprived from ALL the goodies. Might helps some of you too!
Well it is the Monday after the shot. If you can avoid cortisone shots in your hip--do it. They hurt. My dr. felt bad that he made me cry. I am not sure where I am at. It takes a week or so to really kick in so I am not surprised that I am hurting today. We shall see what Friday brings.
Had my yearly exam today. Love my dr. she is so nice & she told me to just get the hip replaced. I would feel better & could enjoy life again. Sigh. Can't tell you how many people have told me that. Maybe they are right.

Welcome Panda!
Ok....The Singing went fabulous! Thanks for asking ladies! When we practiced the day before, we had people complaining about how we sang...:grumble: WHAT? But the actual day of the performance it was fun! no complaints. I was a little nervous at first, but I got over that pretty quick. I fely like i could sing forever!:drinker: The lady that played the piano for me (my coach) didn't have a great time. She has fiber mialgia (sp.?) and the smells completely wiped her out! I feel bad for her! She is still recovering.
Stacey- I love the new profile pic!
Home- Keep baking away! I know you are going ot have the best business!
Katie- How is the car? Ooh! Hosting a chocolate party for Trish? cool! I would, but i live 14 hours away from her!
Kim- I hope the cortisone will relieve some of the pain after all of that! I think that is a good plan for the holidays! I have to do something, because my eating is out of control!0 -
Okay so I totally did not make it to the gym last night, I fell asleep. I made the boys dinner, while they ate I nursed the baby then I ate, helped DH clean the boys & the kitchen then figured I would have to nurse the baby in about another 45 minutes so I would wait until I nursed him then change & go. So I sat on the couch, well I kinda layed on the couch, next thing I knew I woke up like and hour and 15 minutes later in time to bath the boys, get them to bed & nurse the baby again. DH said he thought I must have been tired so he just left me alone & told the boys to play upstairs, I forgot to tell him yes I was going to the gym. So by the time the 3 older ones were in bed the baby was having a really fussy night and it took me two hours to get him to bed which ment it was already almost 10:30 and I was more exhausted than before and went to bed. Guess I needed the sleep since baby has been waking back up more than before it threw my sleeping off. Won't make it tonight either cause DS#1 has boy scouts which means he & DH will be gone for like two hours then come home in time for the bedtime routine to start. Well maybe Wednesday, ugh. If it wasn't so freezing outside I would just take the boys & go for a walk but snow and ice kind of stop that idea. I really need to get some workout dvds or something for home cause getting to the gym seems to be harder than I thought it would be these days.0

Mama- Is there an exercise video that you could do at home on the days that you don't get to the gym? That would be my advice!0

Hello ladies!
I've not been in the chat for about 2 weeks, sorry for my absence....here's what has been going on.
I took John (hubby) to a routine checkup/physical Monday morning ( Nov. 29th) to start getting under a dr's supervision for a diet plan and when John told the dr for about 2 weeks he had been having a hard time breathing doing easy little things (like walking to the car) he thought it was just his weight and was the main reason we were there. So, the dr order an EKG and found his heart was around 160s and it was basically fluttering.
So he sent us to Memorial hospital where I spent most of the day with him. There were 2 treatments the cardiologist talked to us about, the one was blood thinners and then an other medicine to get his heart back on track but he would be on those for a month and then have to return to see if it worked and it only had a 50% chance of working....the other treatment was to put him to sleep, put a scope down his throat to see if there were any clots and if not, then they would shock his heart to get it back in place.....which is the treatment they did.
He was pretty groggy when I was allowed in the room and his heart was back down to 94. Before I left, when he tried to eat some dinner (about an hour after the treatment, the dr allowed him to eat) he was pouring sweat buckets down and getting light headed (assuming he got up too fast and the medication was still trying to wear off).
He called me around 9:45ish last night and told me his heart rate went back up to 140.
Well, his heart rate had gone back down to about 90s to the low 100s. So, they released him last Wednesday night. Saw his cardiologist Thursday morning and got some prescriptions for heart medicine to help keep his heart in rhythm and then blood thinners (only for a short time though)....went back Friday to see how meds were doing. His heart was back out of rhythm and heart rate was back up. Gave us a different one, told us to come back Monday (Dec. 6th) to see how the meds did over the weekend.
The weekend went by and hubby was still feeling great. But Monday came, heart was still out of rhythm and heart rate was back up. So, back to the hospital we went, where they wanted to keep on eye on his vitals, kidney functions, etc. After a couple of days of the new meds, they did the electrocardioversion again (where they shocked his heart while he was "asleep") and with the new meds in his system and the shock, his heart went back into rhythm and heart rate is staying down. The nurse called me here at home, and said he is doing well and that they are hoping throughout the night, he stays in rhythm and heart rate stays down.....please keep us in your thoughts and prayers, as I"m stressing about all this, taking care of the kids, and trying to be positive about things. Thanks!!! Will be back on to normal schedule as soon as things settle down.0 -
Katie- How is the car? Ooh! Hosting a chocolate party for Trish? cool! I would, but i live 14 hours away from her!

Talk about cool, huh0 -
Barb~ I am so glad to hear that your hubby is doing well. I hope it keeps going that way.
So I went grocery shopping today and boy that was a JOKE! It took pretty much all day and HOLY CRAP people love to stare at our family when we go but usually they are not just plain mean like this one lady today. My hubby actually got a bit hostile and yelled out "Is it any of your D@#$ business how many children that we have it doesn't affect you does it?" I think she was a bit embarrassed with herself because she just kept walking instead of stopping and saying something to him. Thank goodness for that. He embarrasses me sometimes when he has those outbursts. :noway: Oh well right?! We are still not quite finished with shopping we just ran out of room in the car. :noway: How has every ones week/weekend gone?0 -
Thanks Katie. He goes back in to the dr in the morning for another checkup and EKG and our lil guy goes in for his 2nd dose of flu shot.....busy morning. Will keep everyone updated.0
-
blue rose--glad to hear the + updates.
katiem--sorry to hear of the "mean lady" looks. i'm espec surprised given you're in UT and large families are NOT unusual. even here in vegas, i know lots of people with 4 or 5 kids (i know that's less than you), who are not LDS. my point is that....good for your dh for speaking up on shame on her for being snotty
mini-vent--i just can't keep to my calorie limits!!! everyday i choose something that puts me over--by a lot!!!:embarassed:
sooo this week, i have written my meals out and know i can stick with them. goal is to max at 1500cals/day, even on exercise days.
one big positive--i got in 2 days of exercise this week! still aiming for four :happy:0
