Ok, so iv invested in a bench and 60kg cast iron weights ( including 10kg bar )
Wanted to start stronglifts but can't yet as the lowest plate is 5kg ( so would mean increasing by 10kg)
I am looking into buying lighter weights but what should I start with now?
My current/old routine is n my multigym is:
3x12 and 2x5/6 bench press
5x12 latt pulldown
4x12 cable squats
4x12 shrugs
3x10 bicep curls (cable)
3x10/12 tricep pushdown
I done that 3 times a week but looking to replace it with a barbell and bench workout
And advice would be appreciated thanks in advance

you can always do a work out with a PVC pipe.
buy some 2.5 collars- or small cookies.0 -
My mental image is hanging girl scout cookies from the bar to lift.0

Bent over rows, over head press, upright rows, pullovers, close-grip bench, skullcrushers, DEADLIFTS...or google.0

It's not the starting weight but on stronglifts you need to up the weight 2.5kg every workout, which i couldn't due to not having 1.25 weight plates. Thanks for advice tho0 -

Thanks mate, basically what I was thinking. Been a while since I was in a gym with a proper routine though so wanted some advice0 -
The smallest plate you have is 5 kgs (10 lbs)? That is big! My weight set came with 2.5 and 5 lb weights. You can also get "fractional" plates in smaller sizes. I'd look into buying a few more plates.
BTW - is it a "standard" size bar (1")? If you get serious doing squats/deadlifts, you may find you need an olympic bar and more weight soon...0 -

so add some milk containers with wholes cut in them to add weight...
or just do the workout with a set weigh until your new plates come in... no reason you can't keep doing the work till your new gear shoes up.0 -

I bought it used off ebay like that. Its a standard bar. Should do me for now. I think I will join the gym when I grow out of what I have. I will buy a 30kg set of dumbells soon with the smaller plates.
Do you all recommend a program like stronglifts or a split routine with 8-12 reps?0 -

Stronglifts or starting strength are definitely good programs that will get lots of recommendations around here. Full body compounds > splits and isolation exercises for a beginner.0 -
Thanks. I have the stronglifts app on my iphone so think I will start that0
