I was just (two weeks ago) diagnosed with Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism, I have started medication (synthroid) and I am also unconventionally treating my symptoms by increasing my selenium intake and cutting out gluten. I have lost a few pounds in the last week without counting calories and have just recently started counting calories again. Maybe with some more information we can help you with recommendations.
  • I have heard so many different opinions with the gluten free thing. Have you felt better without the gluten? I had a thyroidectomy like 5 years ago and my hormones are STILL not in the optimum range. Currently my TSH is very high so I keep gaining weight. I am being tested for pituitary issues My doctor says that I probably will continue to gain until I am optimally treated. My problem now is that I have gained so much weight I am showing signs of diabetes. I am trying to transition to eating healthier foods and its a struggle. To be honest I haven't ate properly in a long time. I am insulin resistant and don't know much about the diabetes yet. But as far as taking supplements I dont take any. I havent cut anything out yet. Im not sure what to cut out. I take synthroid as well as lasix as she wants to cut out some water weight.. I am not on diabetes medicine yet but they want to put me on metformin.
