I think disabling my account might be best for my health

I think this website Is actually making my eating disorder worse. Counting the calories and my weight is making me obsessive. I was doing perfectly fine and had no worries of relapse until I joined here.... it's a great community.... but It's driving me mad..

Do you think that if I quit the website that things might get better.... or worse...

Please read my post! It may shed some light like it has done for some already: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1216925-confessions-of-a-former-yo-yo-dieter

We're here to help. Me especially. Counting calories may seem tedious at first but eventually you can kind of eyeball things in terms of portions and serving sizes. Feel free to add me if you need support

Put the website aside. Seek professional help. Return when you and your specialist decide it is best for you. You have a long and precious life ... get help now to make sure it is all you want it to be. Best of luck.

I have dealt with eating disorders and can tell you it takes a long time until calorie counting is healthy choice. If you feel that you are being obsessive and it is causing you to relapse there is no shame in deactivating. Many people forget that health is so much more than weight and in this case it is important that you do what is healthy for you mentally. Calorie counting only does so much and doesn't work for everyone. I am proud of you for recognizing that this may be causing a problem; that alone shows that you are strong enough to take your health seriously! If you ever need support feel free to message me!

If you have a history of anorexia, I don't see how counting calories and tracking your weight would do anything but make you more obsessive. This method works for people who are unconscious about their habits around food. You seem ultra conscious about food. You'll probably do better if you drop this approach altogether and relax. Perhaps, put more of your concentration on your art and creativity and less on food. Go back to the techniques and methods that worked for you and made you feel less obsessive about food.

I think I agree with you. If you have already identified it as an issue then absolutely stop logging and weighing. I haven't had an eating disorder so I can't say wether this website is a good tool for that. I personally have noticed that I sometimes get very obsessive about calorie counting and logging (it might be a time of the month thing for me), so on those occasions I have given myself a couple of days off. Good luck :flowerforyou:

How is anyone else to know? Only you can make that choice and it's your choice. If you have a problem go and see a medical professional. Good luck

Are you working with a counselor/therapist or/and a registered dietitian? If so, have you discussed this with them?

You look very young and thin, why are you counting calories? Maybe you need to eat more and worry less.

I believe this forum is to help people, but it doesn't mean you have to do what it says.

Do what feels right for you and your health!

Im a big believer in Nutrition versus counting calories.

Ok yeah you need to know how many calories your eating to determine weight loss or weight gain, but that's it.

Don't let counting calories consume you.

Focus on nutrition, because if you providing nutrients to your body, calories shouldn't really matter.

People forget about nutrition and focus on how many calories they are eating, even if that means eating processed foods.

If you focus on nutrition, eating live foods, foods from nature, you won't have to worry about counting calories, cause foods from nature have way less calories then processed/junk "things".
