How do you Stay Within Sugar Allowance?

Hello All,

I'm working on really keeping track of everything I eat with MyFitnessPal's food diary. I'm also trying to stay within my limits of different nutritions. This morning for breakfast I've had a DannonGreek Yogurt at 8 grams of sugar and a banana at 15 grams of sugar. Now the journal says I have 1 sugar remaining....this would be impossible for the rest of the day! Is the food diary counting sugars it shouldn't be? Am I doing this wrong??? Help please =D

Fruit has a ton of sugar really :-(

I feel like if you're eating fruit you're still doing a healthy thing though! Be careful with yogurts and granola etc, those have tons of sugar. I stopped eating them because of it(protein bars too). I also switched the brand of jar pasta sauce I was buying...Ragu has a ton of sugar for no reason! I'm more likely to look for sugar content on a label than fat or calories. Pay close attention and it will get better. As for the fruit, my stance is that I know it has lots of natural sugar but it's healthy so I'm going to keep eating it. There are some fruits that are higher in sugar than others, and I believe bananas are one of the highest.

I've never worried about my sugar intake and have still managed to lose weight.

I think as long as you're not filling up on candy and sweets you should be fine. If you're still worried, try cutting back on your fruit intake and try different breakfast options, like something with more protein.

I changed what I was tracking from sugar to fiber because I was going over on sugar just from normal eating ... you know, without actual processed sweets. Since I actually do try to make sure that I'm getting enough fiber, I decided to just rack that instead.

Eat whole fat plain yogurt and mix your banana in that. Low fat yogurt has added sugar.
