All store bought water has sodium in it because it makes you thirsty and they want you to keep buying more of it.

Propel has salt in it because athletes lose a lot of salt through sweating, and if they were to drink just plain water, they could faint because they're not replacing that salt. For your average person, the extra salt isn't necessary.

As far as whether it's okay, from time to time it's just fine. Just make sure you're hydrating through other means as well.

Wait, we're supposed to drink something other than Propel? The black cherry is awesome, and I get the raspberry lemonade and the peach whenever I can. That stuff is fantastic.

As for it having sodium, my bloody tapwater has worse and the Propel tastes better.

Propel is my go-to drink when I'm backpacking: 60+ ounces (using 3-4 packets of Propel) per day for 5 days. It's fine.

LOL. Or, maybe, just maybe, ALL water has some sodium in it. Did you know the water that comes out of your faucet also has sodium in it? Sodium is used to treat water as part of the process of making it safe and drinkable.

Also, for the record, sodium =/= salt. A salt is a specific type of compound. Sodium chloride is salt, potassium chloride is also a salt. Sodium by itself is sodium, NOT salt.

Actually not ALL water has sodium in it. I was embellishing because MOST store bought water has sodium in it. And not all tap water has sodium in it either. Some people have filters which take it out. My town is actually on their own water system which contains no sodium or fluoride as well as many other common chemicals found in water. But we pay a pretty price for it.

It's water with a whole bunch of stuff added to it to preserve the flavors and all that fun stuff...Just use plain water and add lemon, lime, some freshly squeezed orange juice...
