I'm posting in success stories because obviously whatever cardio you are doing is working! What do you do for cardio?
I'm not regularly exercising right now aside from playing volleyball once a week and I'm trying to motivate myself to do so. I would love to start running and started the couch to 5k plan before I got pregnant last fall, but I have about - <
this much time with a 2.5 year old and an infant. I have a gym membership, but have yet to make good use of it since I started trying to lose weight in Sept.
Any tips or advice?

When mine were little, we used to have dance parties in the living room! Crank up some music and get your 2.5 yr old out there and shake your booties! :bigsmile:0

C25K, but now I really want to have a dance party in the living room. Is it ok if I do it alone?0

Not sure how little your little ones are, but there's TONS of stuff you can do with the kids that is FUN!
Hit the roller rink and rock those quad skates like it's 1985!
Family swim at the local YMCA (or 'the Y' as they're now called)
Family bike rides
Open skate at your local ice rink
Just Dance for wii (if you have wii). Up to four players and kid friendly.
Sledding. That walk up the hill is no joke.

Insanity and Run/Walk on the treadmill.0

Well I don't have kids, but if I did I think I would have as much fun taking them for a walk as I do my dog. :-) That truly is my favorite cardio... going for a walk through the neighborhoods. It's harder now that it is so cold and dark, but we go whenever we can, and I burn a ton of calories doing it.0

Hiking is my favorite. I would suggest a big wheel stroller for you. I see many folks doing that.0

I love mountain biking. That is my favorite, but it is winter here so that's out. Right now I play 2 hours of volleyball once a week, I am doing the c25k and on the days I don't do that, I am on the elliptical. Last night I did the elliptical for 55 minutes after an hour workout.0
-
I have a one and a half year old and I wait till after she goes to bed the I work out on the elipticcal from 30- 1 hour depending on how late I want to be up. Some days it sucks but if you want a good 400 calories for 30 minutes its great especially when you have kids0

Rollerblading it!0

Cycling is my fave but not in the cold! I do spin classes n the winter...:laugh:0

TURBO JAM!
It’s actually kid-friendly in that the music will get them going and they can try and do it with you, you can do it from home + when you ‘kick to the back’ Chalene always reminds you to look back. I suspect she smoked a kid or dog in the head once before and hasn't forgotten that lesson, LOL!0 -
My 2.5 year old loves our dance parties too! Also I love Jillian Michales 30 day shred dvd (I'm currently on day 15) Its only 20 mins, which means it can be done at nap time (assuming your toddler naps - mine doesnt) or after they are in bed. I burn more than 300 cals in those 20 mins.0

I love The Firm workouts. I have a few that use their exclusive step system "Transfirmer," but most of the dvd's just require a few free weights (though you start out by using no weights at all). The combination of cardio and strength training has made a huge difference in my shape and fitness level and energy!
The dvd's range in length from 30 minutes to about an hour. Several dvd's have "express options," like "Get Chiseled" -- when I have to squeeze in a workout (or I want to do two in one day because I've fallen of the food wagon!), I choose the 15 minute workout -- trust me, it's plenty!
(Oh - and I totally agree with the dance party idea! When my girls were small, we did that a lot. Doesn't even feel like exercising.)0 -
I am running. I LOVE running! Running and using the elliptical are my favorites.0

My fave is running. It's something I can do for a long enough duration and get a really high calorie burn. When the thought of running doesn't appeal to me for whatever reason, my primary fallback is really brisk walking. If not that, then bicycling, elliptical, or swimming...pretty much in that order.
Does your gym offer childcare? I was fortunate that back when my kids were really small, my gym, Lifetime Fitness, provided two free hours of childcare. It was a Godsend. My boys both loved going too because they have lots of fun stuff to do and the staff was AWESOME. My boys frequently begged to go.0 -
I will try any fitness DVD I can get my hands on! I currently have about 10 that I rotate through, from Walk Away The Pounds to The Last Chance Workout. Never gets boring, and most only require a small amount of space. My 2-1/2 year old LOVES trying to do the moves with me, which is very entertaining. I've got some of the videos so memorized that I can watch TV at the same time, so I can guiltlessly catch up on all the shows I miss.
Good luck to you finding something you love and fits your lifestyle!0 -
I am new to this program and getting really excited to start tracking my progress. I have 10 lbs I just can not lose!! SO frusturated. I love running and finishing a 5k is one of the greatest rewards. I also need friends and motivation for this program I am pretty bummed out because I just got back from the Dr. and I have plantar fascilitis.... which completely destroys my excercise program. Any ideas for a cardio work out that does not involve standing lol??0

mma training or tabata intervals with vaious exercises in my home gym.0
-
I do Tae Bo and Turbo Jam! It's a really fun way to get your cardio and work up a good sweat!0
-
Tracy Anderson's Dance Cardio!!!!!!0
-
Nordic track at an incline of 10-15, Arc trainer at incline of 10 and resistance of 35, and the eliptical!0
-
Zumba is my favorite! I do a lot of it at classes but when I'm at home and feel like doing it I have dvds too (my 4 year old loves to dance to it lol) Other favs are pilates, yoga (my daughter has her own mat & has had it since she was 2), running, kickboxing.
If your gym has childcare....take advantage of it. 30-60 mins away from them will be ok, I promise0 -

Totally acceptable!!! (coming from someone who has solo underwear dance parties on a regular basis)
my fave form of cardio is RUNNING!!!! Intervals, distance, sprints, I don't care as long as I'm pounding the pavement with wind in my hair!! (or stuck on a tread next to some stinky person at the gym) EITHER WAY!0 -
I say invest in a baby sling or a double "up and down" three wheel pram and walk - we have babyfit classes over here that you can do in your local park - you take your babies in the pram or in the sling, and while you walk you do squats, lunges, bench dips etc.0
-
I love to put the treadmill at a 10 incline and walk, it keeps you from getting bored, you don't have to go at a furious pace or for very long to burn a lot of calories, you can do a quick 30 minute workout and still burn 400 calories easy.0
