Since I've joined a few days ago, I've kept in check with the calorie and fat intake, but my sugar intake is always over the limit. How important is it to overall success?

Unfortunately MFP doesn't distinguish between refined sugar and natural sugar so it's up to you to make sure that you're not consuming large amounts of refined sugar. If what you're going overboard with is all from fresh and raw fruits then don't worry about it. I'm not too sure what the healthy refined sugar limit is, but I do try to stick to as close to 0g as possible!

I'm interested in the response to this too because I'm ALWAYS over on sugar... aren't there GOOD sugars (like fruit)? I don't think those should count :-P

    Yes, those sugars should count.

When it all boils down to it is that sugar is sugar in the body. Too much sugar from fruit can cause your weight loss to stall out, can even make you gain weight and can cause your triglycerides to rise also.

Refined sugars are WAY worse for your body than natural sugars found in fruit are. That being said you shouldn't be 100g over on sugar a day, but you don't need to stress if you had a couple apples and it pushed you way over the 30g.
  • I'm of the opinion that all sugar is bad, but its to avoid when including fruit in your diet.
  • My MFP sugar limit is set to 24g which I can easily go over just by having muesli and fruit for breakfast. I do try and keep it under but I don't stress about it too much. I like my fruit :)
  • I eat fruit and veg all the time... 90% of what i eat is raw food and my sugar is always way way over, but im usually under on my cal's per day. Can too much sugar in fruit and vegies be stoping my weight loss?
