Weight loss goals

What do most of you set your loss per week to be? I had mine set at 2 pounds per week but found that even with exercise it was hard to keep under my caloric goals and I was hungry a lot. So is it better to go with 1 pound a week? I changed to 1 pound per week for a few days and felt like it was too many calories, but even when I changed it to 1.5 from 2 pounds per week it only upped my caloric intake per day by 10 calories. Any advice would be appreciated!

The calorie goal for MFP is the bare minimum. Like, if you were to do 1200 calories, that would be if you were inactive and do absolutely nothing all day. If you exercise, you eat more. You burn calories just being alive. I lost my weight on 1500 net. I'm still losing right now at 2050 calories a day and doing about 4.5 hours total exercise a week, for example. I know it won't be the same for everyone but you have to pick an intake, keep it consistent for a few weeks, then judge from there. There's no one size fits all calorie amount :) good luck!

2lbs a week is for those with 100lbs or more to lose...and since you don't have that much to lose the caloric goals for that would be too low for you.

with 65lbs to lose 1-1 1/2 is fine...I personally would go with 1lb.

It obviously is not too much food if you are weighing your solids on a kitchen scale and measuring liquids.

    I lose 1lb a week on 1600 calories so I am usually between 1600-1700...

As well with MFP you are expect to eat back your exercise calories...which gives more food to eat. I personally would only eat about 75% of those back tho as they can be high.

Thanks for the help! I am going to change it to 1 pound a week and see how it goes from there. I am careful with eating back my exercise calories since I feel like MFP overestimates them..
