I'm looking to get a heart rate monitor. I need a accurate one BUT don't want to spend and arm and a leg. Does anyone have an idea of what I should get?

I have the Polar FT60. It cost me about 150$ HR Monitor, Calorie Burn Counter and Fitness Tracker. It also tells time if you're into that.

They have a few varieties if you want to check out their website. I have the black one and wear it daily. No complaints!

I've had mine for about a month and I knew little about them before I saw all the posts on here. The main thing they do is help you target heart rate rate when you exercise. Some are really gadget orientated so it depends what level you want. Mine is a polar HRM...I did a lot of researching and I decided on a polar HRM. They give you goals in hr zones. I love mine and it has definitely helped me but you don't need to go for the expensive ones they all work. I had mine on today whilst I was dancing to some deep house!! Cleaning up lol... They are worth buying :)

I had a Polar FT 60 and it worked well for several years. When I replaced it, I chose the FT7. I didnt need the couple of extra functions of the higher priced model. I am very happy with it.

If you have an iphone or an ipod this works great and is only $35! http://www.amazon.com/60beat-Heart-Monitor-iPhone-iPads/dp/B0096DM3ES

It's just the HRM strap, not a watch or anything, it connects through bluetooth to your phone. I've had mine for more than a year and I love it.

polar FT7 about $70 from Amazon. I wear mine all day and when I run. I can't see working out without it. I also have a polar loop. but that just reminds me to get off my butt and run.
