What should I get at Ruth's Chris? Never been before

A rep trying to sell stuff is footing the bill for dinner at Ruth's Chris. I've never been and I've not had a cheat day since I've joined MFP. Its time to break that streak! So... what's good there? Any suggestions? I may never go again so I'd really like to make it count. :drinker:

Steak, potatoes, veggies. I'm not a fan of their salads much. Not much damage you can do if you stay away from the creamy sauces. I love their chocolate desert. Yum.

    Enjoy!

Petite filet with shrimp--comes out sizzling in butter! Sweet potato casserole--could eat for dessert, but don't because they have other yummy stuff for that. Sides are done family style, in case you were unaware so prepare to order a couple and share. Creamed spinach is good too. Cajun or fish gumbo for a starter--can't go wrong, so good! Might be going there in a few weeks for my birthday, yum!

Steak. More specifically, the Porterhouse & Caribbean Lobster Tail with a loaded baked potato and Crème Brûlée for dessert.

Enjoy the steak. I have read they pre-marinate all their meat in butter, so I would have the meat, but limit the carbs.

Whatever you get, remember that the meat comes out in a VERY hot iron skillet-like plate (kind of like fajitas do), so I usually order it a little less done than I normally prefer because it continues to cook while on the table, so if I order it med-rare to begin with, it's med-well by the time I'm halfway through (which IMO is inedible and a waste of good meat).
Or just ask for a separate plate and transfer your meat when it gets to your table.

If you go to the happy hour, you get a good bit of awesome for only 7 bucks. Order two or three things add drinks and you got it!

Best steaks ever! Word to the wise if you've never been... every thing is ala carte. When you order a steak, you don't get sides with it, learned this the hard way.

    Enjoy!! :drinker:

The last time I went for dinner, I had a crab appetizer in a martini glass, New York strip, creamed spinach, and fresh asparagus. My two favorite desserts are the banana cream pie and the bread pudding. I'm not bowled over by the chocolate cake, but the creme brulee isn't bad.

The last time for lunch, I had a fantastic steak sandwich. That sandwich isn't available everywhere, though.

Steak! Preferably a medium rare Ribeye! Steaks are actually fine foods for dieting, and there are plenty of healthy sides and appetizer salads at Ruth Chris as well. That said, there is nothing wrong with a cheat meal. If you don't get to go to places like Ruth Chris often then just order what you want and enjoy it.
