I'm going to watch Catching Fire today cuz mom has to take it back tonight. Is it better then the Hunger Games?

My daughter has read the series. We watched Catching Fire last night. She said it was a better adaptation than the first movie, but still subpar to the book.
Not having read the books, I find the movies entertaining. It was hard seeing Phillip Seymour Hoffman in the movie, though. That made me sad.0 -
I have heard "Catching Fire" compared to "The Empire Strikes Back" in terms of impact on the trilogy. I found the original "Hunger Games" to be entertaining, but pretty weak in character development and depth of plot. Everyone I know who has seen both suggest that "Catching Fire" is definitely better than the first one.0

I can't think of any time I would say the movie is better than the book, but that isn't what you asked, is it?
I personally thought "Catching Fire" was a better adaptation than the first film, but I found both enjoyable. I read all of the books and (per usual) knowing what transpired in the books makes the movies easier to follow.
My mother-in-law didn't read the books, and she had more questions about "Catching Fire" than she did about "Hunger Games." I say this because perhaps it will be a little more confusing than the first film.
Ultimately, however, if you enjoyed "Hunger Games," you will almost certainly like "Catching Fire," too.0 -

It was slightly gut-wrenching to see him. Even though we knew what was coming, his first scene was sad to watch. My husband was always a big fan of his.0 -

Go see the movie: Storm of the Century
Better then the book!
Noted. I will have to read the book, too, in order to make a fair comparison.0
