Staying on track on vacation

Hello All!

I'm going on vacation for a week and I'm excited to get some sun and have some fun! I'm hoping that I won't undo all my hard work in the week I'm gone. What are your "secrets" for staying on track and still enjoying your time on vacation? Have a great day!

My advice would be to stay active and be mindful of what you put in your mouth. Also check out what your maintenance cals would be and just try and stick to those.

Most of enjoy yourself. You now have the tools at hand to undo any damage you might have done when you get back.

I just got back from Vacation (about 2 weeks ago) no internet access, all inclusive...all you can eat and drink...I gained 4lbs...but it was worth it...

It's gone now so not a biggy...

Don't worry about it if it will cause you to stress on vacation..I mean it's only a week right.

I don't know what your situation is going to be, but if you can eat well for breakfast and lunch, then you can probably splurge a little at dinner. I take a hot water heater with me and I make single serving bags of oatmeal with raisins and stuff that I can eat first thing in the morning and keep myself on track. If you have a fridge, you can get simple lunch foods to eat: bread, meat or cheese, salad makings, soup and fruit to eat.

Focus on getting some exercise by walking, jogging or biking if you can. That will help too.

    Have fun!

Plan your meals ahead of time, where and what you are going to eat. Have one or two meals where you can splurge and drink. I travel 4 days, almost every week. May be I am more used to staying on track when away from home. If the resort/hotel has a kitchen and fridge, you can buy some healthy food and eat it.

I usually go with the see food diet on vacation. I see food, I eat it.

If the vacation is something that doesn't happen all the time (annual or so), I tend to value enjoying myself more than sticking to a diet. I'm not eating ice cream 5 meals a day... but I'm certainly not caring too much about what I eat.

On the other hand, if these "vacations" come a lot more often than once a year... then I would probably pay closer attention to what I'm eating during them.

I'm going on vacation soon too, and so worried! I'll be visiting my friend and her family in their country for the 3rd time, so I know from experience that food is going to be a major part! You know those movies, when the people are so happy to have guests, they present all the specialities, put it on your plate, serve you foods with 10minute intervals? yeah, it's like that, lol :b And it's cusine known for cheese and oils... Oh well, we are going hiking too, so I'm hoping I can justify having a biiiiit more of those delicious foods!
