Grams of Sugar per day

I know that when you are trying to lose weight that it is important to limit your sugar intake. There are sooo many sources on the Internet that simply disagree with each other, so it's like pick and choose your favorite one sometimes.
Does anyone have an opinion on how many grams of sugar you should limit yourself to per day while losing weight? Also, can someone point me to some valid sources on the subject so I don't feel like I am guessing about which one is credible? :flowerforyou:

I am watching my sugar. and to be honest. I just stay away from "added sugar" things. if it has added sugar. I *TRY REALLY HARD* not to touch it. ha.
MFP actually counts all sugars. so even sugar from fruits and vegetables are included (which i think are null and void, ebcause they're from GOOD FOR YOU THINGS!).
I can't be of much more help than that. I figure just steering clear of putting sugar in anything is a good idea. ha.0 -
Hope this Helps

I have the same question, I eat a lot of fruit (Mango, Apple, ect) every day I am over my sugar, so if the sugar comes from fruit, is that ok?0

My opinion is that its really difficult to actually count sugars, but its a good idea avoid it as much as possible. Be careful though, b.c low sugar can often result it high sodium!! its all about balance.
As for natural sugar in fruits and veggies, its obviously not bad to consume. however, i would recommend eating a wide variety of fruit and veggies and to make sure you are not taking in only the high sugar ones. Fruits that are high in sugar are grapes, bananas, tropical fruits (pineapple, papaya, mango, etc.), apples, and pears. Veggies that are high in sugar are carrots, corn, potatoes, and beets.
Places to watch out for large amounts of added sugar is in drinks, cereals, pre-packaged meals, yogurt, nut butters, jelly, granola bars, and low fat/fat-free salad dressing0 -
Wow, Thank you! Pretty much everything I love is full of sugar! Go Figure! You have opened my eyes, Thank you!0
