Everyone is different but I would say an average of 10 calories per minute walked.0

google it.. I've checked on it and there's some sites that can help you figure it out...
Good luck.0 -
Everyone is different, and the values given for exercise in MFP are not very accurate. The only way to be as sure as possible is to get a heart rate monitor that calculates your calories from your heart rate.0

If you don't want to invest in a HRM yet, you can download the MapMyRun app for your phone - it won't be as accurate but it's still good0

Walking is one of the few exercises on mfp where the estimates are reasonably close. But people are right when they say you don't really know your personal burn without a HRM.0

Depends on your sex, age, height, and also how long it took you to walk that mile in addition to your weight. Here's a link that should help you. Just fill in the blanks, click calculate and then click walking. Scroll down the list to see which best describes your walk.

That's how much I burn running, so I wouldn't say its a good average burn.0 -

My endomondo app and MFP calculations are pretty good I think. About 100 cals per mile ran, about 70 per mile walked. It would be more for you since you're heavier than me but I think you can trust MFP on this one. The burns for other things arent that accurate but walking seems to be good.0 -
It is a mile from my house to the metro and I average about 130. But it really depends on the pace. I use Endomondo and they track it as a "very brisk pace 3.5 mph.0

Download the runtastic app. It is WONDERFUL! You can pick from all different exercise types and it will tell you how many calories you burned, how far you walked, elevation, pace the whole nine AND it intergrates with my fitness pal so it will upload the results automatically. I LOVE IT! and it is free! They do have a pro version but I have been very happy with the free version. There are so many apps out there that help with this. Look into them. :-)0

I have no idea but congrats to for doing it!
What matters is that you are doing it! Keep up the good work!0 -

Pace definitely brings up the calorie burn. Any calculator that doesn't look at speed as a factor is just a wild guess.0 -

^^^This. I have used my HRM and MapMyTracks app on my phone. They have only been about 5 calories off. I am 138 lbs and burn 70-80 calories per mile at a pace of 3.5-4 mph.0 -
Varies from every body. Slow walk......that doesn't even exist in my mind. I'd like to say that everything you do is good, but slow walking is really not doing much. Try to go faster for shorter distances.
Right now I weigh 242 at 5'9" - thats about 170 or so centimeters if you are metric (don't get it twisted, I'm working out A LOT and the weight is coming down). If I walk at 3.5 miles per hour for 35 minutes, I burn about 240 calories. That's a quick-ish walk where I'm not out of breath but my heart is beating a bit faster than normal. I breathe well so that's why I'm not out of breath, but I definitely break a good sweat.
Speed it up and the number will come down. Watch the sugar and empty carbs. Keep it up!0 -
Depends on how fast you walk, height, weight, sex, age, etc etc.
I do not burn a lot walking just on flat surfaces. Walking around my neighborhood I burn about 180 or around that calories per hour. On the treadmill on an incline at a faster speed I burn over 300 in an hour. it all just depends.0 -

Thanks for the link!! I do Leslie Sansone booted walking/jogging videos and I found that MFP was probably a little high in the calorie count.. although her website average 100 cals burned per mile (I usually do 3+ miles a session)... which could be accurate because you do alot more than just 'walk' or 'jog'..0 -

That would equal 600 calories per hour. NO WAY!!! I only use 200 calories RUNNING for 30 minutes.
A slow walk for a mile (say 20 minutes) would be no more than 100 calories.0
