How long for progress?

I posted on here 5 days ago about not gaining muscle or losing weight and people had said it was because I wasn't eating the calories I was burning and only eating a total of 1,200 a day. Since then, I have continued to run 2 miles and walk 4 miles a day and instead I have been netting around 1,200 a day so that I am eating the calories I am burning but I am curious how long it will take to show progress. I have gone up about 2 pounds since eating more and it's making me nervous that I'm just going to get back to not losing weight and instead just gaining. Is it normal for my weight to increase at first and then begin to gain muscle and lose weight?

Ok, first off, I love this post!! And the reason is, I started my journey on Jan 20th 2014. And about 3 weeks in I posted an almost identical thread!! It was all about me busting my *kitten* working out with no results and how discouraged I was about it...
I was overwhelmed with the amazing support and motivation I got from this site! Everyone was so quick to tell me not to give up and giving me all sorts of advice. Before that post i had lost only 3-4lbs. ANd my weight kept going up and down... Literately a day or 2 after, i was down 10! I dont know if it just kicked in or what... But it will happen!! Now Im down 19lbs!
DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED!!!
The scale can be quite the jerk sometimes! And it may feel like you are working so hard and getting nowhere, but I PROMISE, you are getting somewhere!! Just keep going!! Eventually the scale will give in. Its a game, who is gonna win, the scale, or YOU!?
I started taking pictures of myself. And trust, that is no fun. I was 355 when I started so pics was not fun, but now because of the pictures, i keep comparing, and im seeing big changes!!! Let that be more of a motivator than the scale!!
You can so do it!!!
Keep it up, Dont let something so small as a scale get in your way! You got this!!0 -
It sounds to me like you are eating more than you realize.
Do you weigh all your food and log every single thing you put in your mouth? Eyeballs and measuring cups tend to lie. For example, 1/4 cup of almonds is supposed to be 28 grams, but if you weight that half cup of almonds it's usually more.
Where do you get your calorie burns from? MFP and the gym machines WAY overestimate calories burned. For example, I did a combination 6.1 mph run for 35 minutes and 4.5 walking up hills for 60 minutes tonight and my heart rate monitor rendered 500 calories burned. However, the treadmill at the gym rendered almost 700 calories. Had believed the gym machine, my maintenance calories would have been cancelled out.0
