Ugly is in the eye of the beholder, Just as true as beauty?

People often say there are no ugly people....

If its in someones own hands to make themselves beautiful,
then its just as true to be ugly,
only maybe more in the neglect area.

If you ask me, beauty is someone whose not afraid to smile,
who is better to people than they are to them,
someone who sees good even in the evil,
and when things are ugly, beautiful people look for humor.

Beautiful people have healthy minds.
Ugly people do not.

I must be the mostest beautiful evah!!!! I find almost everything funny.

And, OP, I agree with your assessment of beauty. There is so much more to beauty than face value and the surface.

Beauty/ugliness isn't in the eye of the beholder. If it was, people would never be able to agree on who is beautiful. Guess what - there is *huge* agreement on who is beautiful and who is not. Sorry - it's just science (evolutionary legacy).

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then I have beheld some ugly mother****ers in my time. Especially when I look in the mirror.

I actually don't find Ryan Gosling physically unattractive. I don't find white guys psychically attractive.

Hmmmmmm I think that I sometimes find people attractive for reasons that some others may not (as we all do) there is normally something attractive to be found somewhere if the person is nice....

But for me, it's most definitely someone's personality that makes them unattractive to me.

They can be physically perfect, but if the wrong stuff is being projected, they're instantly as rough as a robbers dog.

But Ryan Gosling isnt afraid to smile, so does that mean he is beautiful - even though you dont think so?

He can have a beautiful personality, yes. Beauty isn't just psychical. I was just trying to imply I don't find him attractive- I do not know him and I tend not to care much for celebrities as most are fake..

Well I suppose that's a very sweet sentiment to have. However, beauty in humans is generally recognized by symmetry and facial spacing. There are mathematical equations that recognize facial beauty, as well as mathematical ratios that reflect beautiful/desired physiques. Granted there are anomalies just as there are outliers in statistics, but for the most part, spanning the history of human existence, physical beauty has followed the same equations. Archeaological evidence supports this, as the equations have been found across millenia and cultures in sculptures and paintings. Any time you see a culture trying to embrace something completely out of the realm of these things as "beauty" (go ahead and google Japanese Donut Heads), the rest of the world tends to shudder.

People have preferences. My first husband was an extremely stunningly good looking man- it actually bothered me to look at him sometimes. I like imperfections in people. I like uniqueness. But I'm honest enough to realize that just because I find someone who is outside the normative-beautiful attractive, does not automatically make them "beautiful". This is all speaking purely on the physical level of course...

I think people are ugly when they have a crappy personality and attitude. I also have a different perspective on what I find attractive than most people.

Oh, no, there are a PILE of ugly people out there, I've seen them first hand.

I think what you actually meant is "People often say there is no such thing as a stupid question."

Although that's not true either because I've asked plenty myself.
