The South Beach Diet is a joke, so I'd definitely recommend against that. Weight watchers isn't that much different from just counting calories on My Fitness Pal which you can do for free. The main difference that I've seen is that weight watchers makes fruits and vegetables "zero points" which I think is ridiculous because they do have calories and should be counted as such. If you have to pick one of the two definitely go with Weight Watchers, but ideally just count calories and track macronutrients with MFP for free.0

I prefer My Fitness Pal over both. That's why I'm here.0

Aj while i agree with you, alot of people need to retrain their eating habits. i never have done WW, but can see how the zero points would help condition people who have little will power.0

I was on Weight Watchers for over a year and not thrilled with the results. As one poster mentioned, all food has calories so you really should count it. I like this site because it makes it easier to count ALL food. Good luck in your choice..also consider the price of weekly meetings. The same money could be used for healthy food at the stores.0

I vote for the free Myfitnesspal0

I really like MFP, but sometimes you need something that has more structure to get you going.
I was on Weight Watchers for 6 months a couple years back. Lost 50 lbs. It is very similar to MFP, but I can definitely see the perks of going on WW before doing MFP. It trains you to see what you are eating and to pick healthier choices. If you are determined, MFP is free and you can lose weight the same way. If you feel you need the structure, meetings, etc ... then test it out for a while. I wouldn't pay for more than 3 months, after the 3 months, come on back to MFP with your new lifestyle and keep at it!0 -

I see what you mean, but at the same time, it can lead to people eating more fruit because it's zero points and then not losing weight and wondering why? At least if you count everything there's no confusion, no gray area, you can see that you're going over your calorie goal and it's preventing you from losing weight. There's no need to fool yourself by blurring the lines...0 -
Thanks so much for all the responses! I am going to do Weight Watchers with friend...no meetings but counting points and relying on each other. I love MFP, have used it before, but I need a little more structure with it! Thanks!0

neither.....eat at a calorie deficit and exercise...don't make it complicated and don't waste your money0
