Delusions of Grandeur...

So there I was contemplating the Superhero capabilities this past Superhero Saturday morning. I reached into my Mr. Dress-up trunk and pulled out my thigh-high boots, sparkled up my tiara and shook out my cape for the League of Justice meeting I would be attending. We were all in attendance: Ego with his lavish and fluffy mane, Me with her looks of pomposity, the Myself twins with their debasing observations and little ol’ I with what could only be termed as ‘Delusions of Grandeur!’
That’s right! I got this idea that I “might” be able to do something I had never tried, but before I get into that I should give a bit of back story. Last September I finally took out the 30 Day Shred DVD that a friend had loaned and decided that I would do it as a challenge along with the usual weekly workout schedule. I had done Level 1 a few times as a supplement, but I had never attempted the actual 30 days objective. Serendipitously I happened upon an MFP group, that was very well organized and newly active and the plan was to do the 30 day shred in 6 weeks—2 days off per week.
Well, if you've done it you may remember your first attempts and they may or may not have been similar, let’s just say, I about died. I am almost positive (“almost” because I think I have blocked it out as a defense mechanism) that I never fully got through it without modifying it somewhere or having to use lesser weights or pausing profusely, but still I completed it in 6 weeks. YAY ME! Patted Myself(s) on the shoulder(s) and Boosted my Ego Mane to full fluff! I DID IT!
Fast forward 6 months, after finally bursting through a plateau and losing a further 1% of Body Fat, suddenly I am reaching some and coming close to reaching other “Original” MFP goals! Not to mention the fact that having just passed the threshold of my 365th day on MFP, I was halfway to my 370th day. Moreover, I had become, over the last few months, a fitness Fool that not even the likes of Mr. T can comprehend! When I workout, songs like Eye of the Tiger, Sexy and I know it, Club Can’t Handle Me and Brave come on my Slacker Radio…coincidence? Me thinks no (with a perfectly timed eye-roll).
As Padawans “We” envisioned our Jedi competencies, and I came out excessively generous on the side of ability! It started with, “let’s try Levels 1&2 of the 30 Day Shred” innocently enough, but somehow I slyly inserted the marked intensity increases of our fitness conditioning, “don’t you think we can do all 3 levels?” Before anyone could bat an eye, I had our plan mapped out—back to back 30 Day Shred levels 1, 2, & 3 using 5lb hand weights, leaving in the warm-ups (for a slight break between levels) and only the one cool down at the end. (Oh Emm Gee!) There "We" were swinging our arms in arm crosses!
YEP—I about died, again! But miraculously it was done! It was one of those HURT SO GOOD, kinda accomplishments. Muscles were quavering, sweat was dripping, and mouth was grinning ear-to-ear. By the end of Superhero Saturday I was ALREADY sore, which is a scary sign for me because I usually don’t get really sore until the 2nd day after—so if I was already sore on the day of…GASP! I was in trouble!
Sunday which is usually a REST day, turned into a WALK-IT-OUT day (which took slightly longer than it usual does), simply because I believed it might help ease the Monday meltdown of functioning body movement. Sure some ibuprofen and ActivOn was involved and I’ve definitely had to increase my proteins and water intake on my daily menus and yes, I retained water for muscle repair, but luckily I had just completed Chapter 3 in the NROLFW so I didn’t FREAK out and get overly excited nor overly disappointed at what was happening in my physique and guess what’s on the workout schedule again for this Saturday?
MORE Delusions of Grandeur!

Totally heroic and very inspiring! Exercise is my biggest fear, I'm awful at anything that requires dedication but in the build up to the summer I aim to start getting at least mildly active! and you've made me want to get my *kitten* in gear which never happens - so thank you!!! And congrats xx0

Your post is so fun and inspiring. Love it! I think I'll dust off my thigh high boots this Saturday and dive into some of my own delusions.0

I am so glad to know I'm not the only one who works out to "Eye of the Tiger"! I'd listen to "I'm Sexy and I know it" but well, let's face it...I'm sexy and I know it, so what's the point of the music? ;-) Thanks for the smile!0

Then the problem becomes posting them as I don't have a photobucket account or anything like that...guess I'll have to get one! :ohwell:0 -

Even though it's still 6 months away, I'm thinking I'll definitely be making a SuperHero Costume as one of my costumes for Halloween this year! (I dress up the whole week before Halloween!)
I am also making a fruit turban! :laugh:0
