Don't eat **** food & exercise. Wow, uncomfortable truths

This site is incredible - and I give props to my friend Lee for telling me about it. It's helped me loose nearly 28 pounds so far. So I'm starting to feel a bit cocky.
How have I lost this weight? By cutting down on my calories, jogging and cycling. no secret skill. Just hard work and denying myself the things I used to enjoy.
Does anyone disagree with this?
Stop moaning about being overweight.... Stop looking for people to enable your behaviour and telling you eating **** is ok.
Since I've found this site it really makes me feel like Yoda - 'DO or DO NOT - There is no TRY'
I'm saying this because I only started losing weight once people I respected stopped blowing smoke up my *kitten* and got real with me and said - hey - you're fat, you're disgusting, STOP eating, START exercising. Simple as that.
I'm saying this because I hope it connects with one person, rather than a world of apologists for why being unhealthy is OK,
It took me 'tough love' to start to change, so I'm hoping it works for you too...
However, some people eat out of lack of love. So if that's you go get therapy rather than MFP. No judgement here...

So true! I have found that in looking for a shortcut I make it way to complicated.

Put down the chocolate and lift heavy *kitten*!

Theres no excuse anymore , its not hard is it? Eat right , Exercise , and you will loose weight.

    Its as simple as that.

Anyone wanting motivation should look in the mirror and scream.

That is decent advice. People get caught up in the minutiae instead of just DOING it.

Congrats on the WL! Yes, some people need tough love but they will only accept it when they are ready.

I love the look on some people's faces when they ask how I've lost weight and I mention counting calories. They usually say "no, really?"

I'd change deny to limit. It's a lifestyle change after all not a temporary thing.

If it works for you, great. That approach doesn't work with me. Though I guarantee you'll have weight loss if you get between me and "s***y food" (whatever you consider that to be; I guess that's desserts, chocolate, and processed things.).

I don't actually eat Sh!te, but I do eat all of the things I used to enjoy, I just do so in moderation. There's no need to deny yourself anything.

^^^Yup, this^^^ I don't deny myself anything, there's no need, simply control yourself and you can still eat all the good stuff.

Same as the others... I eat anything I like, just in moderation.

I'd say learn how to eat the things you enjoy within a reasonable caloric deficit. Your results are likely to last longer. But whatever works.

Congrats on the WL and finding what works for you!

I personally have NOT denied myself the foods I used to enjoy. I just eat less nutritious "junk" food in moderation.

Wow, congrats on your weight loss!

(I never really know MFP protocol on creeping on people's weight loss trackers, but I had to comment on yours. That's awesome!)

I don't deny myself anything. I work for it, fit it with my macros and enjoy it.

    Moderation - it works

I do limit the things I enjoy so that I meet my calorie goal and macros. But I still enjoy them every day. And I work hard.

I agree with cutting down on calories, but I don't do cardio. I lift and I don't deny myself anything at all. If I want a cookie or piece of cheesecake I make it fit my calories and macros.

    ^^^This, 100%

I get denying yourself trigger foods that you can't seem to put down in the beginning, but working them back into your diet in moderation is the key to long term success. : )

Considering that I've lost 30ish lbs over the past few months while still eating "s***" (but not OVEReating), I have to disagree. You can eat whatever you want as long as you're getting your macros and a calorie deficit.

I know people who can meticulously count their calories and bust their butt just to lose 5lbs over several months because of PCOS, thyroid issues, etc. ... In that case, of course hard work and dedication pay off, but it's really up to you how much effort you want to put in and whether you're busting tail to be athletic and in shape or just struggling to stay healthy. When I was on depo provera, I couldn't budge my weight. Once it was out of my system I dropped weight without a thought.

Losing weight is all about the numbers and finding what you can do consistently and not drive yourself nuts in the process.
