That's all it takes! Moving your body can really help you stay within that calorie range.

    YOU CAN DO IT!!!

  • I'm not sure if you'll lose weight just by cutting calories, I never have. Exericise is very important. You'll want to add some cardio and some strength training!
  • i have been doing the treadmill for 30 min a day at an avg of 3.0 miles per hour, i TRY to get this done at least 4 days a week... hope that will help me!
  • Watching your calorie intake and eating better foods alone, you will lose weight to begin with. Eventually that may just balance out and you will have to do some kind of working out to lose more. Plus if you workout along with eating healthier then as you lose the weight (or should I say inches instead) you will tone and look better.

    Good luck :)
  • i am so excited about this! until i started logging what i ate, i had no idea how "bad" i was doing!! hope i can just be patient!! :) thank you all for your wisdom!

Good luck! I lost 5.5 lbs. in a week with the help of MFP. It really works!
  • wow!! that's awesome!! thanks for the post!!
  • Just start off with a little exercise that is manageable for your lifestyle. Nutrition is 80% of weight loss... a lot of people say!! Everyone on this site is sooo helpful, if you make an effort you will be successful!

If you don't add cardio and strength you may end up as a skinny fat person.......... your body needs tone (escpecially the older you get).

Use the tools that are on here. The BMR will help you understand how by lowering your calorie intake make you lose weight, but nutrition is important, too. If your body isn't getting what it needs, it will be very hard, if not impossible to stay on any diet. If you aren't getting enough protein and carbs, you won't have any energy. If you aren't getting enough vitamin C, you'll be sick a lot. If you don't get enough fiber, you can't poop (sorry, graphic, I know, but true and that throws me off a diet quicker than anything). As you get in a habit of feeding your body better, it will actually demand it and not process the "crap" it used to be accustomed to. I started out by just changing my eating habits and I'm getting ready to begin exercising. I'm one of those people that gets overwhelmed easily by too many changes all at once. It also doesn't help that until a week ago I was a FT student on top of working a FT job. Hang in there, you WILL see results unless you aren't being honest with yourself (and MyFitnessPal) about portion sizes and what you are eating. To me, MyFitnessPal is about knowledge and awareness. If you become knowledgeable and aware of what you eat, how it's prepared, the condiments that come with it, etc., then even when you eat poorly, you will know what to expect and how to bounce back. I still fall off the wagon for a meal every once in a while, which doesn't seem to set me back much at all. It's almost as if my body's metabolism speeds up to deal with all the extra calories. Maybe it's all in my head, maybe not. Anyway, welcome, eat healthy and lean on us for support. :)
