Help! I love sweets. Im always under my calorie goal, but way over my sugar goal. Is this going to hinder me from losing weight? Or can I eat all the sweets I want as long as I stay within my calorie goal?

Technically speaking, you can eat whatever you want and if you're within your calorie goal you will lose weight. But, that does not mean you will be healthy.0

Too much sugar will slow your weight loss though, even if you are at your daily calorie goal. The extra sugar is converted to fat. I always used to do weight watchers and would eat TONS of fruits and vegetables on it, not realizing that I was eating a ton of sugar while doing so. Since joining MFP's site, I limit myself to 20 grams of sugar per day and have lost 32 pounds. I have consistently lost about 2 pounds a week, sometimes a little more and I am convinced that watching my sugar intake has made all the difference for me. On weight watchers, i was lucky if I lost a pound per week. I actually calculated how much sugar I had taken in one day while looking back at one of my old WW journals, and I discovered that I one day I had eaten over 350 grams of "healthy" sugar, while staying at my points for the day. It was from yogurt, fruit, bread, cereal, milk, etc.... This is all of course just my opinion and what has worked for me though!0

Ditto!,, When I cut back on fruit I started to lose weight better. Before 1lb a month. Now 1lb a week. Big difference.
But not everyone has to when it comes to fruit.
Regarding your sweet tooth. Try cutting back in portions. Have what you want but cut it in half for starters. When you can get free of HAVING to have sweets. You will feel good about eating the sweets occassionally.

Thanks everyone for your quick input. I was afraid that would be the answer! Lol! Sugar is in foods I never thought it would be in and adds up quick. I will definitely work on lowering my sugar intake.0
