Running apps

I completed the Couch 25K running app, and enjoyed the scheduled workouts of the app. I do better with that type of training program than just taking off and running indefinitely. I'm not interested in the 10K program ... 2-4 miles is the max mileage I have time to complete right now. I downloaded the Zombie Run app, and completed the 5K training program, but got bored with the other part of the app where you just run and listen to a zombie story. Any other running training apps out there that keep running interesting?

I am also doing the T25 workout DVDs so running is in addition to that, not my only workout.

    Congrats on finishing the c25k!

I've done my c25k app twice, once on the treadmill, and once outside. I've since downloaded another app (all free, of course) called c25k forever, which helps me "run slightly faster" during different intervals. Maybe it will help my time, which is extremely slow :-). Good luck!
  • I can't find that app...I have an android, so I have found that some apps aren't available except through iPhones. ???

Use Runkeeper and be motivated by getting different times, whoops for going faster, higher etc for whatever distance you want and then download podcasts or create awesome music playlists to keep yourself interested. Also go and find some different routes.
  • I use run double app there is also runtastic, map my run just go to your apps and see what is compatible with your phone

    Well done on completing C25K!

MiCoach is free and has a variety of free training programmes and different combinations of exercise. Also links with your music library on smartphones. You need to set up a free online account and link with the phone app - it's the best running app I've found and I've tried loads!

I use mapmyrun to track my run but I listen to loads of science podcasts - you could download a podcast app and download a load of programs to listen to?

...... enjoyed the scheduled workouts of the app.

Runkeeper has some free programmes that you can follow, or if you find one that you like on Runners World or something then you can programme it in. Endomondo premium also comes up with programmes for a specific objective that you might have.

Notwithstanding that, what's your objective? If you're capping yourself at 45 minutes per session then that leads to a very different programme to being able to do one longer session per week. I'm working on my 10K time at the moment and of my five runs per week four are less than an hour and only one is quite a bit more than that.
