Circuits vs repetitive exercises

What is more effective/efficient for building muscles/losing fat in terms of strength exercises? Is it doing one set of reps (6-10) of a variety of exercises, with very little break time in between, then having a brief break and starting again at the beginning of the exercise routine? Or is it doing a number of reps in a row with little break in between (eg 3 lots of 6-10) and then a slightly longer break before changing up the exercise?

Just curious ...

It's hard to say which is more effective. I believe that each is just as effective if you are doing the same number of total repetitions. Circuits are good for keeping your heart rate up for longer, and for cutting down your time at the gym. I would use repetitive exercises when I really want to focus on a specific muscle group, since that will allow me to do drop sets, or other types of sets to really target that problem muscle.
