Help! I'm hungry and I don't know what to eat! This is so stressful! I want a burger!

  • I'd like some ideas on this too - lately I seem to be over on my fat macros and under on protein. Fat free greek yoghurt? Anyone else?
  • Why don't you try getting a wholewheat bun and putting lots of grilled veggies on it with some ketchup....yumm...that's like one of my favourite meals.
I can't stand mcdonalds or a&w etc...they're so processed and bad for you, it's so much more enjoyable and rewarding when you make your own delicious meals like that imo.
  • Black beans and plain greek yogurt, mix together, add hot sauce. Rice if you have some, along with spinach, on a tortilla, and nom.

Then have a burger. If you constantly deprive yourself of what you want, you'll find it hard to do this long term. Have a burger, but make it yourself and make it 4 oz or less before being cooked and eat it on a whole wheat bun with whatever veggies you like, or not, on it. Just have one. Relish every single bite. Even if it puts you over a couple hundred calories this one day. Tomorrow, eat a little less at breakfast and lunch so you have a couple hundred calories tomorrow night in case another burger calls.

Lean Beef, chicken or fish stirfry w/ vegetables & tasty teriyaki or sriracha (the red rooster bottle) sauce. Blackened salmon tacos w/ corn cilantro salsa (skip the avocado!), bbq chicken kabobs w/ zuchini, onions and mushroom....

I like tofu, not everyone does, but sub that in as well!

Or, a portabello mushroom burger instead of a hamburger - season a big p.mush w/ garlic & herb - grill or pan sear it w/ olive oil spray, add tomatoes, onions, your fave dressings & there's ya burger! :)

the Fage o% brand is pretty good and it's 23 protein grams per cup. It's so thick, i never get that much down at once, but it's good for low fat, high protein & with fruit or kashi go lean cereal, high fiber.
  • Thank you everyone!!! i'm gonna go eat now

    I agree.

If it's stressing you out, stop focusing so much on macros. Calories are priority, macros are guidelines.

I mix ground turkey breast, chopped onions, celery, and carrots, some quick oatmeal, egg whites, and seasonings...for meatloaf "muffins" with 100cal, 17g protein, 1g fat, 1g fiber, and 5g carbs. PM me if you have a trader joe's nearby and want the recipe. You can have these on a salad, with marinara sauce, or (as my husband eats them) just on their own.

Have fun with that. I'm off to eat some peanut butter ;)
  • depending on the day, I may be in a caloric surplus or a deficit (I'm on a cycling dietary pattern to better support muscle building). On days I eat at a surplus, I keep fats low, because dietary fat is far more likely to be stored than carbohydrates. I'm not saying that's what the OP is doing, but there ARE reasons why someone might be trying to restrict dietary fat intake.
  • For me, I just tend to eat more healthy fats and often am out of whack with proteins and carbs. Like today, I am over on sugars and fats but way low on proteins and carbs so i would love some ideas on options.

Don't worry so much about the fat. Fat is not the important factor, it's sugars you need to avoid. Your body needs some fat in its diet otherwise it will start to conserve it which is what you don't want.

Also, good luck finding a food with calories but no fat or sugars. It's always a trade off. Chicken's about the best.

Eat little and often (every 2-3 hours) to keep your metabolism burning.

I snack on mixed nuts, pre-packed ready-cooked chicken slices eg. Tikka or BBQ flavours, or even a German type hot dog sausage. Those have some fat, sure, but no sugars and high protein. They're pretty good. Cottage cheese on things too. Beware of fruit! Mostly high sugars. Using the barcode scanner yesterday I found a slice of madeira cake was better than an apple - the apple is mostly sugar (but no fat) whereas the cake was lowish fat and low sugar, both about the same carb.

You want a burger? Have one. Grill it and drain the fat off, and have it with salad, peppers, and tomatoes (no mayo). Enjoy.
or try Ostrich steak - it's absolutely delicious and soooooo healthy.

depression- broken dreams and cardboard food.

that's what carbs and protein and no fat amounts too.

fat is delicious. carbs go before fat goes.

A salad with a no-oil dressing. There is a minute amount of plant fat in various plant foods that may go into a salad, but not much.
