How many calories should I be eating per day?

I have been dieting and exercising for about 3 weeks now and haven't seen much of a change at all. MFP has set my calorie goal at 1200 calories/day, but I think that's too low. I'm finding it very hard to eat this few calories and am constantly hungry. I am 5'2, 155lbs and my goal weight is 133. I walk on the treadmill 3x per week and try to lift weights. I've googled how many calories I should be eating and keep finding different answers. One site says 1200, another 1600. Any advice? Feeling very frustrated that the scale isn't budging.

Go to this website. It will tell you how many calories you should be eating at your goal weight. If you eat that amount now you will lose the weight to get there. You really don't have a lot to lose so it will go slow. Just take it one day at a time.

Maybe you'd find some answers here :)

The TDEE calculator will help you to find out how many calories you should consume. I think its better than MFP calculator.

However, I personally still use MFP because following that has not being difficult.

But one thing I've noticed is, even when I'm on a 1200 calorie diet, I try to eat back my exercise calories. So that I won't go too low in calorie consumption. And it helps!

Eating back your exercise calories is crucial if you try to stick to a low calories diet like 1,200.

Also, eating protein helps to subside hunger pangs. It keeps you full most of the time and helps to have a better, energized workout.

    Good luck :)

Thanks for the ideas! I used both calculators and they are both saying around 1600 calories. I will try that instead of 1200 and see if it makes any difference.
