Easy and cheap meals?
Hi everybody!
I'm a college student and right now I don't really have much time and money during my days, which ended up resulting in me eating more of the bad than the good things because they are cheaper to buy in the shops. I do want to change this though, which is why I came here to ask for some help.
Do you guys have any good recepies for any meal during the day that are easy to make and not too expensive?

You can do loads of things with turkey breast mince! It's cheap & 500g makes me around 4 meals (usually do 2 different meals with it).
You can substitute any recipe which uses minced/ground beef for turkey breast mince instead, which is super filling & healthy.
I make, turkey meatballs, bolognaise, chilli, burgers etc. which will all re-heat really nicely for your lunch at college.
Wholewheat pasta is another option too, again, super filling, healthy & very cheap! I make a simple pasta sauce using tinned tomatoes, salt, pepper, pinch of sugar, garlic, basil & throw in any veggies I have left in the fridge which need using, for example. Red onion, mixed peppers, mushrooms etc.0 -
Beanburgers.
Tinned beans (anything without a sauce)
Onion
Spices (i like cumin and chilli)
Cornflour
Cook the beans, cut the onion up fine. Add the cooked beans to the onion, spice and cornflower, mash with a fork and cook like a burger.
Cheap and tasty, you can add anything else to that as well as long as its not to runny.0 -
I buy a bag of frozen, individually sealed tilapia fillets. You can just cook them as you need. I prefer to pan fry on the stove top with olive oil and blackening sprinkled on each side. Takes about 8 minutes.
Bags of SteamFresh veggies are cheap and it doesn't get much easier than popping into the microwave for a few minutes!0 -
College student easy and cheap, I understand. Do you have a mini refrigerator, microwave, and a hot plate?
-The organic rice ( pre-cooked rice just heat in microwave) is awesome 150 calorie bowl with an omelet or eggs ( salt/ pepper, bell peppers, onions, garlic, laughing cow cheese ( 35 calorie).
- turkey sandwich ( low fat low cal mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, mustard) w/ Kellogg’s special K butter popcorn chips. Heh special K chips are awesome check out all flavors.
- Can’t go wrong with a healthy cereal and milk (2% or lower)
- I promise I am not anorexic but a low calorie fruit yogurt ( I love strawberry) and I add fresh blueberries .25 cup and 1/8 cup of walnuts (healthy but fattening).
Hope this helps, if you need more psh let me know.0
