Running Playlist Ideas Needed!

I grow tired of my two playlists I've created and am training for a half marathon, so I need some new stuff to get me pumped! What's on your running/work out playlist?

I'm sure there are many of these topics, but I wanted some fresh ideas.

Thanks, all!

I'm open to most genres as long as it has a good beat that keeps me going. Currently I have a 90 minute mix of various Britney Spears songs (they are getting old), but also a mix made up of indie, rock, pop, rap. I like variety.

    Hole - Gutless
    Hole - Plump

Or just the entire Live Through This album. Keeps me pumped up in a very angry kind of way.

Or if you want a happier song, Dreaming by Blondie, has a smoking drum line that will keep your feet moving.

    Three words: Iron effing Maiden!!

Seriously, I don't listen to music when I run outside but I have to when I'm forced on the treadmill. I usually go for the "longer" songs as I really get lost in them. Examples:

Layla - Derek and the Dominoes
Wasted Years - Iron Maiden (live version is the best)
Free Bird (Live) - Lynrd Skynrd.

I love Free Bird because the tempo changes and the guitar solos in the last half of the song really get me pumped.

Hahah. I was just gonna suggest Nightmare, by Halestorm....

Also, Seizure of Power (Resident Evil) by Marilyn Manson gets me pumped.
  • Check out jog.fm, you can plug in the pace you run and it will give a number of songs that have a beat to match the pace.

Sure, but what is the runner supposed to do for the for the first 5 minutes of the song (Free Bird), when the song is proceeding at like 40 beats per minute lol...

Pharrell Williams -- Happy (the beat is a good pace and it's a very peppy song)

I'm drawing a complete mental blank on anything else, but that's my newest addition.

Lately, it's been a 175 bpm metronome. I'm trying to learn to run at a higher cadence.

My favorite is theclassicalstation.org. I'm fortunate that my phone (Moto G) has an FM receiver and I live close enough to the radio station so I don't need to stream, because I run in places where my mobile coverage is spotty. It's never anything I love, but, more importantly, it's never anything ****ty enough that I want to stop and kill the song.

^^^This! You can also type in a band you like and it will tell what the pace of the songs are...10 min miles, 9 min miles, etc!

    In no particular order:

Slayer - Eyes of the Insane, Raining Blood
    Atreyu - Ex's and Oh's, Doomsday, Honor
Hatebreed - To the Threshold, Set it Off (cover)
Earth Crisis - The Order, Wrath of Sanity, All out war
Living Color - Cult of Personality
Lady Gaga - Electric Chapel, Judas, Do what you want
    MIA - Paper Planes
In Flames - Reroute to Remain
    Kanye West - Stronger
Killswitch Engage - This Fire, Eye of the Storm, Rose of Sharyn
    Katy Perry - Firework, Roar
    Metallica - Enter the Sandman
Weezer - If you're Wondering if I want you to (I want you to)
    Bjork - Bachelorette
Huey Lewis and the News - (gosh, anything by them!)
    Eazy-E - Switchez
Alice in Chains - Sunshine, We die young
    Pearl Jam - Rearview Mirror
    Throwdown - Raise your Fist
Xzibit - Get your walk on
    Martyr AD - SeventyFive TwentyFive
    Deftones - 7 Words
    Europe - Final Countdown
Lots of crap from various Final Fantasy soundtracks. Good ambient music of varying intensities.

If none of that gets your blood going...

Go onto itunes or amazon and search "running music" there is an entire genre of instrumentals. I like these because they are harder to get sick of (for me) I also like Bangra dance and belly dancing music - fast paced of course. While I'm running I imagine I'm running on the beaches of some tropical island or through an exotic market place or city---just what works for me!

I was looking at the rest of the list and just thinking that this was a bit of a joke you had put in there. Not sure if serious.
