Does anyone else gain when they increase activity?

My ENTIRE life, when I up my physical activity, I immediately put on weight. It is SO frustrating. I increase my caloric intake, and while I could make healthier food choices, I don't make significant changes in regards to what I was eating prior to increased activity. I started the Couch to 5K program this week and have put on 3 pounds! That may not sound like much, but I am only 5'2", so it makes a big difference! Thoughts? Advice? (I am VERY frustrated.)

You didn't gain 3 pounds of body mass if your caloric intake was lower than your caloric expenditure. It's probably water weight.

It's water retention. It'll go away.

This. Its perfectly normal and is quite common in that situation.

ETA - advice - forget about it, keep working out. It will even out eventually. It is not true weight gain so its nothing to sweat about.

Yep, water. It's taken me three weeks to finally see it on the scale.
