Not exactly new, but I'll introduce myself anyway.

I became a member of MyFitnessPal about two and a half months ago. I was just looking for apps on my smartphone that I could play with when I came across this one. I spent the first six weeks on MyFitnessPal strictly on my smartphone. It wasn't until I "recruited" a friend/co-worker to the site that I really got into the online aspect (which is far, FAR more complex than the smartphone version, but I still like the convenience). I have four close friends that are doing this with me, which is tons of fun, but I would like to add online friends as well. This site is so full of wonderful, supportive people that I know will benefit me immensely. I'm down 13 pounds (as of my last weigh in). I started out with only a half a pound a week goal just so I could become comfortable with logging my calories and understand all the new knowledge I was gaining about the food I have eaten forever. After 6 weeks I bumped it to a pound a week and now that I have completed the coursework for my undergraduate degree, my new "time drain" is going to be exercising... hopefully. I'm easing these changes into my lifestyle gradually and individually so that I am more likely to stick with it. It's worked wonders so far. I'm not losing lots of weight super fast, but I can see progress and that is always a bonus. It's not a race, it's a marathon. It's about completing, not competing. If you are looking for online support/friend, let me know. I am! :)
