Does the "Curves" program work?

Hi, so I'm going to be joining the navy in the upcoming year and I'm trying to improve my fitness. One of my friends recommended Curves and said it was a good, intensive group workout. I looked at their website and reviews, but I'm still undecided because it's kind of expensive.

Have you tried it? Would you recommend?

Thanks!

Jillian Michaels aside, it didn't do much for me. I used the workout rooms in Las Vegas and the one in Pahrump and it was more like a social club. They have someone paid to stand around and talk while you're working out, you can only use the equipment for a minute or two, then you have to switch and, most of all, you are only supposed to use the equipment for 1/2 hour 3x/week. I couldn't even break a sweat for 1 1/2 using the equipment.

I know it works for some, it just wasn't a good fit for me. The gym I belong to now is great, the classes and equipment are awesome and it doesn't feel like a social club. Also, I'm not limited to 1/2 hour 3x/week.

    Good luck in the Navy!

I joined curves a few years ago and really liked it. I lost weight, don't remember how much but I think I would have lost more if I was tracking calories. It is pricey and I work out at home now as we got an inexpensive treadmill and a weight bench and some weights so no monthly fees but it was a good workout and I liked it.
