Discouraged

This is day 14 of drinking nothing but water, eating 1200 cals a day, and exercising every day. I make sure that the days I exercise that the net cals are close to 1100 (I'm little as it is, it's hard to eat back all those calories I expend), but I never let myself go into "starvation mode." I eat a lot of veggies and fruits and lean meats.
My exercise entails walking about 3 miles a day and just recently I started Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. The next day I weighed myself and I weighed MORE... people told me it was probably fluid retention in my muscles to try and repair. That made sense. I gave myself a day to rest and weighed in this morning, and I was .3 lbs more than I was last week. Not a big difference but I didn't lose ANYTHING in that entire week I busted my *kitten*. I've been doing this for exactly 2 weeks and that first week I lost 2 pounds, but nothing this week. I'm not trying to lose more than 2 pounds a week because I want this to be a steady, gradual change since that's more effective. But kind of discouraging to see that scale budge in the wrong direction.

Do you know why at all I wouldn't have lost anything in that week, but rather... gained? I can't figure it out for the life of me. And there's no way I could have gained muscle in just a week. Oi vey.

You should get a BMI calculator. It will tell you your body fat and your BMI. I'm sure one of those went down, even if your weight didn't.

It takes days or weeks of exercise for your body to get use to it will it will no longer retain as much water. One day off would not be long enough. I would suggest not weighing yourself for 2-4 weeks and take your measurements instead, then re-take them in 2 weeks and look at your improvements that way.

I barely lost ANY weight on the 30DS (I don't have much to lose, and it looks like you don't either), but I lost TONS of inches by the end!! Measure yourself :) And I also built up soo much endurance and my arms were completely transformed by the end

This is my third go around with 30 Day Shred. First time I was discouraged with the lack of weight lost but the inches were transforming!! I can tell you it works or I wouldn't be doing it for the 3rd time! Stick with it, take your measurements and you will see real changes, promise :)

Close to girl time? Then water weight for sure! Also, did you eat a high sodium meal in the last day or so? That always ups my weight by a few. Then again I eat A LOT of salt! I just drink twice as much water for a day to flush out the excess and then weigh again. :)

The working out is new right? Your muscles retain water for recovery when you first start working out. Make sure your workout has rest days- those are just as important as the workouts themselves.

Stay the course, keep doing what you are doing. Your body is resisting you right now, you are on the cusp of beginning to see results. DO NOT GIVE UP! You will see a loss in the next two weeks. :flowerforyou:

So I cut out fruits and that seems to have been the problem. I was fueling myself for workouts but was never going to the fat storage. Apparently carbs even from fruits absolutely kill weight loss. Now my weight is going back down again since doing protein, protein, protein.

Don't weigh yourself back to back like that. Weight fluctuates every day, throughout the day. Weigh yourself at least once a week. I weigh myself once a month! The scale isn't the only thing that can tell you your results.

Make sure you are measuring yourself. Many people lose inches before weight, but that's a GOOD thing.
