what should I do?

What's up guys. I currently just finished up recovery week of insanity and unfortunately I'm coming down with a cold. I'm wondering if I should work through the cold or take some time off ? And if I was to take time off should I redo the recovery week because I know month two is really insane.thanks for the help

I've heard. (I may be wrong) If your sick from the neck up, work out best you can. Neck down, take some time off. I have a cold now. I went to spinning this morning. It was rough, but I did it. I don't think I was able to push myself as much as I normal do, but that's ok. I still worked out!

    Hope you're feeling better soon!

This is probably very individual. Personally, at the first sign of illness (even mild colds), I take at least 2 days off exercise and get lots of rest. But I have never been in the best of health and in the past, my downfall in trying to get fit was always pushing my body too far and then ending up too tired to do anything for weeks. This time around, I've really starting listening to my body and it's going so much better.

  • Thanks for the suggestions! I think im going to take a few days off. When I get started again do you guys think I should pick up at Day 1 of Month 2 of insanity? Or redo the recovery week?

I imagine it'd be a personal choice. I've never done Insanity so I can't speak as far as the program goes. If I just have a stuffy nose or a scratchy throat, I go for it. But if it's stomach problems or chest congestion, I take a break. No point in making myself worse! Just get back to it as soon as you can. It's very easy for one break day to become two and three and so on.

The OP sounds like they're probably working out at home, but here's a plea to those who go to a gym or studio. If you're sick, stay home, please. Work out there if you feel up to it, but don't share your bug. We're working out to be healthier, not to catch the Crud.
