Green Smoothie

Had my first ever green smoothie this morning and I am more than impressed! Not only was it super yummy, it's kept me full for nearly four hours now. And I mean FULL, like... the thought of preparing lunch right now just has me stalling... nothing sounds good because my stomach is still completely content and I'm loving it.
I'll share my recipe.

Green smoothie (2 servings)

[all organic]

A large handful of baby spinach
1 cup of frozen mango
1 cup of frozen pineapple
1 small kiwi
about 2 cups of water (<<< I just eyeballed this and kept adding more until it was a perfect consistency)
Juice squeeze from one fresh, large orange
And a spoonful of honey (for my fiance's liking)

Blend until completely smooth with no leaf chunks!

Very yummy!

I love green smoothies. I do a massive handful of mixed greens (baby chard, baby kale & spinach), a banana, truvia, cinnamon and water. My kids love it too. It's the only way they'll eat greens.

Smoothies are a great way to eat a lot leafy greens!

I like to make mine with:

a mix of fresh or frozen berries
    frozen peaches or mango
    sometimes half a banana
    coconut water
    flax or hemp seed
    flax oil
spinach, kale or a mix of the greens I have on hand
if I am replacing a meal I add protein powder

sorry to say I didn't like kiwi in my smoothies but pineapple with avocado is good!

I LOVE green smoothies. Especially with pineapple. Mango sounds good too. Will have to try that. Last weekend I dumped in a can of "Tropical fruit salad" and two handfuls of baby leaf spinach and a scoop of vanilla protein powder. That's it. So easy. I think that's also what I like about it. So easy - just through whatever in the blender and push the button!!

These sound pretty interesting ..... I got a NutriBullet for Christmas ...... haven't even opened the box
  • I love my Green Smoothies. I'm a low-carber, so I don't use as much fruit. I usually use one really ripe banana, an avocado, greens, celery, cucumber and yummy unsweetened coconut milk (the canned stuff, not the fridge stuff). And split this up for 3 days worth of smoothie. They do indeed keep you very full for awhile, and the added fat in my version will keep me full for hours, even when I'm working hard.
