Log EVERYTHING ..... even if it is ZERO calories. Some hotsauces for example are zero calories but are high sodium. It's worth logging to check the effects of waterweight as a result of increased sodium intake....

Why wouldn't you log fruits/veggies, when you're counting calories???

Omigoodness yes! The MFP food diary and calorie counter assumes you are logging everything you put in your mouth. You will be very surprised how it adds up. Very good for you to eat all those fruit and veggies, especially fresh when you can get them, but they will impact your calorie total and your rate of success.

Best of luck to you, and welcome to MFP.

I think it depends on why you're trying to lose weight. I generally don't log raw fruit and veg, as I'm more concerned about the health benefits of losing weight, rather than logging every single calorie. Personally, I think if you get hung up about every single calorie, even if they're coming from healthy foods, that's not going to be sustainable long term. But that's just personal preference. I'm actually logging everything at the moment, because I'm trying to lose another 24 pounds to get my BMI down for IVF, but once I've done that I'll go back to not bothering to log cucumber etc!

if you bite it, write it

    I love this!
  • yes, Plus I found having a calorie deficit made me want to bulk my meals more with veggies and they can easily take up 100 -200 calories in a day
    Definitely log fruit.

Yes, I log everything even if I eyeball it. It keeps me in the habit of remaining aware of what I eat, and it's great to see my fibre and micronutrient intake going up over time in my reports as I eat more and more fruits and vegetables.

I am paying close attention to macros so yes I log fruits and veggies. I like to see if I reach my daily vitamin goals as well if you skip things your not going to have accurate readings.

I don't sweat veggies, unless they're root vegetables. I do log fruits.

Yes of course! I probably eat like 400-500 calories of fruits every day! It would be fatal not to count them.

Yes I do. For example yesterday I ate 2 bananas, avocado, and broccoli and sweet potato. Needless to say, that adds up so I track it

If you have a weight goal of any sort (lose gain maintain) it will be based on a caloric number, if you don't log how will you monitor the number?
Everything gets logged and weighed to be accurate

Yep. Weight Watchers probably wants people to keep the weight on so they can keep taking their money! Someone eating 'free' potatoes, bananas, lots of sugary apples, they're not just eating air. Although I know a lot of people who do this.

Exactly what I was thinking. It's ridiculous- How much money are you paying per lb of weight you lose? The internet is access to all information known to man- why not educate yourself and save some money for that new wardrobe you're going to need?!

Absolutely! If it has calories, I log it, period.
