Weightloss pills... yes or no?

Has anyone tried the weightloss 4 pill? It is supposed to be all natural but I'm hesitant about using stuff like this. Not sure if it would be a good thing to try or not. Let me know what you think!

    The only thing any weight loss pill will lighten is your wallet.

    Set a reasonable calorie deficit & exercise. It's the only method proven to work.

    You've already had success in losing over 20 lbs, and I'm going to assume that has been with a reduction in calories and with some exercise.

    What's the rush? You're doing it the right way. Keep at it.

    Also, to answer your question a little more directly: No. Skip the diet pills. Spend that extra moolah on the more expensive fruit and veggies :wink: - live large! Up here in northern Alberta I'd indulge with an avocado or maybe some blackberries :smile:.

    There are diet pills that actually work. The problem is maintenance. It's easy to learn to take a pill, but not so easy to learn how to maintain the weigh loss after you quit taking the pills.

    The way I see it, your options are:

    1. Take the pills. If they work you will have to either (1) keep taking them forever to maintain or (2) stop taking them, leaving you to go through the work and learning curve of how to consistently maintain a healthy weight.

    2. Don't take the pills, leaving you to go through the work and learning curve of how to consistently maintain a healthy weight.


    In other words, the work is inevitable. And I'm not saying this as a puritan -- I'm saying this as someone who's taken the pills.

    Thanks for your input guys! I always like to see what others think. I never really considered it before but was kind of curious... especially since I have plateaued in my weight loss! I think I'll just stick with eating right and exercising for right now!

    If weight loss pills REALLY worked, why would people even bother cutting calories? Or exercising? I "all natural"? Natural would mean you pulled it from the ground, picked off the tree or vine, or slaughtered it yourself. Anything else is pretty much "processed" and unnatural.

    You didn't get fat taking a pill, and you won't permanently lose it with a pill.

    You also wont be healthy if you keep eating the foods that made you fat, and counter it with a drug.

    I haven't tried it and never heard of it until your post.

    I maintain a healthy weight by eating all foods in moderation and exercising on a regular basis. If I needed to loose weight, I wouldn't take a pill to do so.

    I have recently (2 weeks ago) been put on 2 pills to assist is helping me loose weight. For me, this has been a life saver. So, I would say if your Dr is suggesting it, then do some research. But if you are considering something over the counter, I would avoid it.

    Before anyone attacks me, let me share. I was on weight watchers for 3 months while doing the Insanity workout, then changed to running and ran for 25 miles a week (5 miles a day, 5 days a week) and on an 1800 calorie diet, for 9 months. I only lost 2 inches of body fat over my entire body and gained 4 lbs. After gaining 25 lbs suddenly over the course of 5 weeks, I ended in my dr's office in tears. I'm continuing my running and have dropped to 1200-1500 calories a day, and am on two medications to assist in the weight loss while we try to figure out what is going on internally. I'm down 6 lbs.

    Most "Fat Loss" pills work by bypassing the natural absorption processes. This can affect liver function and cause damage to the hepatic system... There have been several issues with some of these pills causing liver damage. Also, by bypassing the hepatic system, the fat goes directly out the body causing diarrhea. Diet pills also often use caffeine to speed up heart rate which is the mechanism they use to speed up metabolism.. This also can be dangerous.

    As far as "all natural", there are natural poisons in the earth so just because it is natural don't mean it is good for you.

    No short cuts. It did not come on overnight, it won't come off overnight. Just slow and steady and in the end you will have the body you are working for.

    If weightloss pills worked, everyone would be taking them. No one would be overweight. There are no easy fixes or else everyone would be doing them.

    Diet/weght loss pills are temporary fixes (if they work at all). Too many have been marketed as "safe" only to be removed when people start getting sick from them. A lifestyle change with better food choices and regular exercise is the only guaranteed safe way to a leaner, healthier body. I'd say save your money for the cute new clothes you're gonna get when you hit your goals.
