Junk Food Withdrawals!

Hey there, after spending awhile now eating pretty much nothing healthy and only junk, I have put on more weight than I'd like to be carrying. I've cut out all junk except my sugar in my coffee.

I have no appetite, I'm irritable, mildly depressed, itchy and have a headache.

Any idea when I'm going to feel better?

I can't do moderation, at least not at the moment.

    Hey,
Yeah I was in your shoes there a few weeks back. Back on the weightless bandwagon, and Iv found, from many failed attempts, that I have to cut out the junk food completely (and I would eat it all day every day). I can't do it in moderation either, the first few weeks were bad enough. I had the headaches, I was so snappy, and I didn't feel like eating much either. So I always had a load of calories left at the end of the day.
Unfortunately I fell off the bandwagon at the weekend, and ate a pile of junk, now I'm feeling like I'm back to square one. From tmw I will be back to complete elimination. Dreading it already :(

The good news is, if you can get through the first couple of weeks it does get a little easier. When I first started and had no idea what I was doing, I was so hungry I could have eaten cardboard and been happy about it. I was crabby, had that headache and was no fun to be around.

Take a look at your previous diet. What is it that you cut out exactly? Caffeine? Sugar? Simple carbs? Salt? Now consider something you can add in it's place. Caffeine - an extra cup of coffee or a diet soda. Sugar - try having fruit instead. It's natural sugars are better for you. Simple carbs- replace with complex carbs like beans, whole grains, brown rice etc. Salt - try a handful of nuts or wheat tortilla chips with salsa.

    Good luck!

Thank you for your replies! My biggest weakness is simple carbs, combined with fat. That is what my diet consisted of almost entirely. I find myself looking at the healthier food in my cupboard and turning away again, preferring to not eat instead. I know that won't last long though, I'm not a person who can go without food for very long lol

I've found a lot of healthy-food blogs to be incredibly helpful with my cravings. At first some of the recipes seemed a little tasteless, but that's because I was so used to my high sodium diet. Once my taste buds adjusted, I started to really enjoy a lot of the meals and snacks. I still have a long way to go, don't get me wrong, but this alone has been a huge feat for me.

Just keep up with it - quitting ANYTHING is difficult, but once you get past this you'll realize how much healthier you feel.

Are you eating enough now? Junk food contains a lot of calories, if you replace that with veggies, you get a big calorie gap.
