I failed myself

After weeks of eating healthy and working out, I've lost 8 pds. Today, I feel like I gained them all back. It's hard to bounce back from eating junk. I feel like I minus well go eat all the junk in the house now. I know it makes no sense, but that's always how I think. It was just so hard to resist the "soul food" of a great cook. Although I had mentally prepared myself and had a game plan, I failed miserably. I went well over 1000 calories over my goal! Ugh!!! I really hope tmrw brings more motivation. After all, I have over 1000 calories I have to burn!

you need 3000 calories to gain a pound - so you haven't gained 8 punds back ). I sometimes overeat like that, but then I get right back on track and make sure I don't eat more that week.
So try to behave for the rest of the week and you will be fine. Once the fast food is flushed out of your body you will feel better too. It makes you bloated and you feel heavier.
Try to sqeeueze one lemon in a cup of hot water and add a teaspoon of olive oil. That always helps me get on track, stops cravings and gives you some healthy fats so you stop craving unhealthy fats! Good luck !0 -
Thank you! That makes me feel much better. I will try the lemon and olive oil because I am definitely feeling the effects of all that food. I love this web site. Everyone is so supportive. For the first time I feel like I can lose the weight and keep it off.0

That's helpful information!0

Wow that lemon and olive oil is a good trick! will try it next time!
Indy we all have those days, but remember this is a marathon not a sprint. There won't be a day when you tick off "being healthy" you will have to do it every day for the rest of your life, so OF COURSE sometimes will be better than others, remember though that last unhealthy meal doesn't matter, what matters is what you do next. I totally get the temptation to just go nuts once you mess up coz it feels like it can't get any wors but if everytime you mess up you say ok, then go for a walk or eat you next meal healthy you will never have failed yourself x0 -
Must be in the air this weekend. I had my first bad day since I started in September.
Kinda stinks but like you said, tomorrow is another day and I'm going to make sure it's not another today!!
Just keep at it0 -
I think we've all been there before.
I don't like that hopeless feeling of eating junk I know I shouldn't be eating (and yet I do it anyway).
Just because you slip, doesn't mean you fall.
I know you will keep succeeding.

P.S. I hope you enjoyed your treats today. Some days it's hard to make good choices. Enjoy the bad ones -- they make interesting stories.0 -
Thanks everyone! I'm going to keep all of these encouraging words in mind for next weekend, since weekends are my biggest challenge.
And Reihn, I sure did enjoy them! Lol0 -
Indy,
Like others have said it's a marathon not a sprint. When you fall off the horse, get up. Shake off the dust, grab the horses ear and whisper "you're mine *****, and get back on. You'll tame the beast. I'm just not happy with the title you have for this. "I failed myself".. no you didn't and that mentality is like a small leak in a dam. If you don't plug the trickle now, it will only get bigger.

Your right. I will work on plugging that leak. That is the leak that explodes about 3 months into every health journey I begin. But since for the first time I feel like I have help to plug this leak until I can do it alone, I feel like I will succeed. Thanks!0 -

I love this, i really needed this too! i just had a big blow out on chocolate, i feel sick now, and i'm trying to savour this crap feeling so i dont want to eat that crap again!0 -
First of all...drink a ton of water tomorrow and just start fresh. 1000 cals over won't set you back 8 lbs. Even if you do have a gain in the next wek think of it htis way...you might have a pound to lose again but it is one pound not 8 that you started with...you are still headed in the right direction even if you stop or take a tiny step back from time to time...just start heading in the right direction again and you will get there0

I ate terrible yesterday as well. I think it has to do with the Holiday season. I know that I have to be really careful about parties and holidays and everything; and I just sort "rebelled" yesterday. Of course, now I feel terrible. But, I am grateful for the reminder that 3500 cals is one pound!
Thanks to the OP for sharing this. I feel better knowing that it happens to us all and that it isn't as bad as I thought it was!0
