How do you lose weight with Hypothyroidism?

My thyroid level is high :S I have hypothyroidism.
I'm tired all the time. I drink coffee and diet cokes/pepsi to keep myself awake. I
bike for 40 mins a day and the stationary bike says I burn 500 calories in 40 mins :S
I eat a 1500 cal diet. I been gaining a lot of weight in the past 2 weeks.
I really want to lose that last 20 pounds.
What should I do to lose weight ?
Thanks for inputs!

First of all, stop drinking diet coke. It only makes your appetite grow. Eat enough vegetables and nutrient rich food. The best way to start losing weight is to find the right dose of medication. I´m still balancing with the right level too. :S

If you have hypothyroidism you needs to be on medication. Not just for weight loss but for general health. On the right medication you shouldn't have any trouble. Since switching to name brand Synthroid I've had trouble slowing down my weight loss. You could also try weight/resistance training. It's helped me a lot.

You call your dr and get on meds. In parallel, you monitor what you eat, like everyone else :)

I am on meds and losing slowly. 12.4 lbs in 70 days

caffeine only a few times a week. I have found making myself workout actually helps curb my tiredness.

LOTS of fresh fruit and veggies, Greek Yogurt, getting as much fiber as possible all have helped
