30 Day Shred weight gain?? Inches at least please??

So I'm on Level 3 Day 7 today, and have been seeing my weight go up.. I'm thinking it is muscle gain, because pretty much Level 3 is really all about weights, even in the cardio intervals. But you would think that my inches would be coming off me right? Nope. I may have gotten only 1 inch total loss. But I will say I measure myself after every Level, so this is after Level 2 when I measured, but still..only 1 inch total? Come on.

Anyone else having the same problem?

I lost 9inches on my first round and almost 4lbs...but it's probably not muscle gain

Exercise does not cause weight loss...eating in a deficet does.

You can exercise all you want but if you are eating too much you wont lose weight.

I think you're right. I eat my exercise calories back, so I think I should stop doing that.
And wow that is awesome! Congratulations! :)
And thank you for taking the time out of your day to answer.
I'll see if this will work definitely!

    It isn't muscle gain.

Make sure you're really eating at a deficit.

I barely lost anything when I did the shred either, and I too was really frustrated--but I also wasn't being diligent about logging my calories so I'm fairly certain I was eating a lot more than I thought I was. I would start there. :) Good luck!

    I will!
Thank you guys so much for your replies!
Starting today, I won't eat my exercise calories. We'll see how it works.

Good luck! Are you weighing and measuring everything as well? That was what really made the difference for me personally.

It isn't muscle gain. 30 Day Shred isn't strength training, it's cardio using light dumbbells.

It could be that you're overestimating your calorie burn from the workouts. How are you determining your calorie burn? Are you wearing a chest strap HRM? Using MFP's exercise database?

    I lost 6 pounds in level 1, 3 pounds in level 2. 0 pounds in level 3.

I'm 3 days from the end of level 3, and was getting frustrated too, but I did take out the measuring tape this morning, and the inches are still coming off.

How are you feeling during the workout? I felt sore the first couple days, but it's started to get easier, so I upped my weights to 8 pounds, I used 5 pounds for levels 1 and 2. I'm hoping this will make a difference.

Thank you! And I do measure, but don't weigh. I need to buy the scale here pretty soon. I'll most likely get one from Weight Watchers or something. I think that's a good idea for that!

    True true.

Yeah, I think you're right. For my calorie burn, I've been putting it as "Circuit Training" for 20 minutes, and "Mild Stretching" for 3 minutes. And no about the chest strap, but that's a really good idea! I'll have to try it! And yes I'm using the exercise database on MFP. Just been eating my exercise calories.
    Thank you for the reply!
  • I did 30 day shred before and logged it.. but as users said before, it's really easy to overestimate the calories. I found I only starting losing when I did about 15 mins of cardio right before, like running or another cardio workout dvd. Didn't find great results though.

I am now doing ripped in 30 and i'm not logging it, so i'm pretending that i'm not burning any calories. And I do anywhere between 10-40 minutes cardio (normally one of the jessica smith workouts on youtube as they're brilliant) And i'm getting really good results. It's got me out of my plateau and also can feel my jeans getting looser (I've just started week 3 today) and I feel like i've got a great workout from it.

Oh wow that's great! Congratulations! :)

Oh okay, very cool! I'll be measuring myself either this Friday or Saturday to see if anything changed.

During the workout I am grunting at times, and i do Natalie's version, so I'm not modifying, and my arms are the ones that get the most sore for Lvl 3 actually. But right after the workout I felt like I didn't really do anything even though I'm sweating like no other. Lately I've been adding Zumba Rush and The Firm Abs Sculpt to Lvl 3, so hopefully that'll help me. And just need to make sure I don't ear my exercise calories.

Yeah, very true. Sorry to hear it didn't really work until your cardio workouts. Lately I've been doing Zumba Rush and The Firm Abs Sculpt so hopefully that helps at least a little.

Ohh huh that's a good idea to not put in your workout! That way I don't eat it back. Hm I've never heard of Jessica smith, but I'll have to check her out! And I'm glad you said that, because I want to start Ripped in 30 after this!
Thanks so much for your reply! :) Very helpful!
