Hi I'm overweight but mostly just round my belly area. I have skinny arms and legs and my main focus is slimming down round my middle. But I've researched again and again and I'm very confused as to whether I should be lifting weights to burn calories even when I'm not working out, or should I focus on cardio to get my weight down. I've also cut out all bad goods but according to my fitness pal app I am only eating about 1,000 kcals sometimes even less, but somehow I have began to out on weight again after losing half a stone through dieting. I am very confused and getting frustrated and wish someone would tell me exactly what exercises I need to do! Would be grateful if someone would help me.

Maybe you should check out "Diastasis Recti" and read the information to see if this can be a symptom you have...I have this and my belly is my one big problem area no matter how large/small I am...0

I'm no expert what so ever and nor am I active, but I read alot of these success stories and I think most people would tell you to up your calorie intake and lift weights at a guess. I'm sure you will get more responses though that will be much more helpful.0

Seriously, do both. Lifting weights builds strength, and muscle actively burns calories. Cardio is damned near essential for heart health. Both together, with a calorie deficit, will burn off the fat.

Eat "good" (whatever that means to you) 80% of the time. Fit yummy, portion-control treats into your calorie goal. Deprivation can lead to bingeing.
With 38 lb. to lose, set your goal no higher than 1 lb. per week, which is way more than 1,000 calories. And get your logging under control before you worry about exercise.
