I started the 30 Day Shred last week and according to everything I've read someone my weight should be burning well over a hundred calories. According to my HRM I burn 50.. I follow the video completely with no breaks.. Could it be wrong?

Weird. I burn 250 to 325 calories during the 30 day shred. There's no way you burned only 50.0

Wore my HRM last night doing Level 1...27 minutes, 245 calories. I didn't take any rest and completed all exercises. 50 seems really, really low!0

Hi! You wearing a HRM with a chest strap? I had it happen that the sensor slipped and lost contact for a while. It will stop recording, and then pick up again later. Now I make sure to tuck it good enough under my sports bra. If you have a sound/alarm setting on there, turn it on. I can hear mine beep loud enough over the DVD. Depending on my energy level of the day, I burn at least 160 calories in this.0

50 seems really low but it all depends on your weight. Some people have stated they burn 250-300 cals doing 30DS, I only burned 200 or so @ 180lbs. I have a feeling that your HRM sensor or strap somehow got out of position which can cause it to stop. With Polar HRM, it will beep when this happens and show 00.0

Don't forget the strap has to be dampened, too. It won't record properly without some water on the sensor.0

Definitely seems low. I burn over 300 during ripped in 30. And around 250 for 30ds. I know it depends on how hard you do the workouts..I do the unmodified version. But you should still burn over 150...even if you are doing a low impact version.
While you are doing the video...what is your average heart rate?0 -

Nope. Mine is a wrist/watch type0 -

I'm doing the unmodified stuff more often than not. I'm not sure what the average heart rate is because I have to hold my finger on it to find out and I'm moving too much for that.
Could it be that I wear the HRM like a watch with the face up on my wrist? Maybe I need the "sensor side" on the bottom of my wrist?0 -

Yeah, very likely loses contact when you turn your wrist. It's not easy to get them tight enough and still comfortable for these kind of workouts.0 -
Can anyone recommend an HRM that is not the watch type? Preferably under $100. I don't have alot to spend on it.0

I use this one: http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/polar-h7-transmitter.html?productid=polar-h7-transmitter&channelid=NEXTA&utm_source=CSEs&utm_medium=Nextag&utm_campaign=heartratemonitorsusa0 -
The polar ft7 which cost $71 on amazon. It's a chest strap with a watch. I burn about 277 calories in 30ds and I'm 166lbs.
I'm thinking of getting the H7 strap tho since it's bluetooth and will work with the ft7 watch and will sync with the polar app on my phone. The one that comes with the ft7 originally isn't bluetooth, it's a different kind of transmitter but still connects to your watch and to polar compatible machines at the gym.0 -

I have both, and the Bluetooth sensor can be used in the chest strap that comes with the FT7, but it will only link to phone, not to the wrist watch. The H7 only needs the phone for recording your workouts and such, but it will also connect with machines in the gym. (It's always the sensor that makes the link, not the wrist watch.) Most of the chest straps are interchangeable. In fact, some companies make sports bras with a built-in chest strap that accommodates the sensor.0 -
i rekon id burn 50 calories sitting on my butt for 30 minutes.
have you checked the settings of the HRM. mine you need to enter height, weight, age and gender. if these are wrong it might affect the readout.0
