Well coming up to the end of week 2 tomorrow (so not OFFICIALLY weighed myself yet) - but only appear to have lost 0.2lb :noway: Very disappointing as have been so good and even started to do some exercise. Only 20 mins every other day but better than the none I did before.... Am I expecting too much too soon? I guess I should be glad of ANY loss? :grumble: Wanting to lose around 50lbs - gonna be a LOOOOONG hard slog at this rate

losing weight takes time, you didn't gain it all in two weeks and you will not lose it all in two weeks. Evaluate your food choices and exercise,,,play with the numbers to find the right balance for you. I can tell you that for me to lose I stay at 1200 cals. and workout daily, swapping between cardio and lifting.....its all about the balance for me.0

I know this seems like a small thing. However consider these.
1) Pull a stick of butter out of the refrigerator and look at it. THIS is how much fat is gone with .2 lb.
2) Would you rather have not been "being good, trying hard" and gained that much more fat? I'm guessing not.
Finally, if you have started exercising, if you have any soreness, your body will be retaining water to repair muscles. This is a very good thing for as those muscles get stronger they will need to burn more energy and your losses will really start.
Stick with it, eventually your body will let go of the weight.
Best of luck on that weigh in.0 -
I'm only 2-3 weeks into this journey too. Your ticker says you've lost 5lbs - if that is within the time you've been here since Feb I think that is great going. It's a good steady weight loss. I think most people have weeks where they don't lose as much as they'd hoped for - I know I did this week too. Hopefully, we'll both see more progress next week. I think you're doing great and well done also on starting to exercise.

Patience
Also try and measure yourself, inches will show a loss where the scale doesn't..
I went through a stage where for 6 weeks nothing happened on the scale, but my cms were showing a loss so I just kept on and by the 7th week I dropped a good 3kg's.0 -
Losing that slowly can mean that you may be eating more than you think. Are you using a food scale to weigh all your food? If not, that would be my first step. You would be surprised how "off" you can be measuring in cups. Choose the database entry that has been confirmed by many members. There are some entries that are way off!
Weigh, measure, log. :drinker:0 -
A loss is a loss! If you've been eating right and doing a little exercise (some is infinitely better than none!) then you should be proud of yourself despite what the scales say.
Like others have said don't forget to take pictures and measurements because they can be helpful in showing you that you're moving in the right direction!
Keep going. Weight loss, while simple in principle, can be unpredictable. Be patient and keep on fighting the good fight! Good luck0 -
I just woke up this morning -- I weigh daily because otherwise, I don't try -- and hate the number on the scale. Yesterday was hard because I kind of felt a mental tug to want to eat all day, but kept at my calories.
I saw your post as I was thinking.... My weight gain right now could be 1) the junk catching up on me from last week 2) water weight because I am really trying 3) salt retention
What I have learned on mfp, posting, getting supportive friends, logging, drinking my water, really really helps! Advise from others helps! like... losing weight, the number on the scale isn't going to be linear. If you want to lose .5 pounds a week (that's me), it doesn't always happen like that. You may stay the same one week, but if we keep at it (and for me, honestly keep at it) suddenly, week 2 or 3, the pound is lost!
Keep going--the making good choices, water and exercise is helping you in so many ways!
Add me as a friend if you'd like!! Have a good day-connie0 -
thanks everyone for keeping my spirits up . im trying to stick to the 1200 calories its given me, and most of the time I barcode food (im doing slimfast breakfast and lunch so that parts easy), so I don't think I can be that far out just on my evening meals. But maybe I should start with measurements of my body as I haven't done that yet. Think I will have to concentrate on monthly rather than weekly losses (I hope!!) as my body seems to go up and down so much. Im happy with any loss just hoped for little bit more0

What are your stats? 99% of people on 1200 calorie plans can eat more than that and still lose weight. Also, Slimfast is a miserable way to live, and there's no need for it (unless you really, genuinely prefer them over real food).
Try to make this a lifestyle change rather than a diet and it won't feel like such a long haul.0 -
Lauren - my stats? you got me there? I actually don't mind slimfast (for now) its been a good starting point and amazingly im not hungry on it. its quick and easy when im rushing for work but I know not for long term. been going through recipe ideas on here to give me a boost though0

i am in the same boat. i am new and lost something like .06 lbs in my first 3 weeks! i was not amused! but i have come to accept it. i also changed a few things up and renewed my commitment.....i can make good food choices and i can exercise but i can't control how my body reacts. my body feels a lot different than it did when i started so i am guessing some inches may be gone. one thing i know for sure is i cannot focus on the weight (or inches) numbers without going crazy. i am leaving the results up to my body. it knows best........0
