Weightloss Has stopped

I am 5'6, 34 year old woman and am currently on between 1200 and 1300 calories per day.

I have lost 34lbs over a two year period so a very slow weight loss with no exercise but I am very happy with it. I still have around another 30lbs to lose to be in the healthy weight range

Since September ,my weight has been stuck at around 190lbs. I have gone up and down a little over the last few months and put on 7lbs over Xmas. Since New Year I have lost that 7lbs and am back down to 190.

I have started exercising 3 times a week for at least 30 mins to an hour (mixture of running/swimming/weights some at home and some in the gym for the last 4 weeks but my weight is still stuck at 190lbs

Please can anyone help me get over this Plateaux. Really frustrated and disheartened

You body learns to adjust to low calorie diets, it is the over-exaggeratedly named (and claimed mythical by those doing it, but scientifically proven to exist) "starvation mode". It leads to quick plateaus that then lead to gaining (I've been there more than once).

I suggest you find out 2 very important numbers: TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and BMR (basal metabolic rate). Find out what yours are and eat less than TDEE but never less than BMR (chances are 1200 is less than your BMR).

If you've been eating at such low calories for a long time, I highly recommend a metabolism "reset". It sound scary (eating more), but it will help you in the long run. Otherwise, you're doomed to having to eat less and less calories to see weight loss and eating under 1200 isn't really healthy (nor is 1200 depending on height etc).

Here's some threads/groups to get your started. Lots of reading, but good info. If you need someone who is eating more calories send me a message and a friend request, I've been there and am getting over that nonsense. My weight has gone down since too. (Yay eating more AND losing fat!)

You're going to have all kinds of people suggesting that you are actually eating more than you think because you don't use a food scale etc. You're also going to have people telling you to exercise more, eat clean etc etc.

As someone who has been there, knows exactly that feeling and has seen both sides for myself, I HIGHLY suggest you consider than you might not be eating ENOUGH. If eating next to nothing isn't working, why be afraid to try something different? It might just get you unstuck.

    Good luck!

So actually your weightloss hasn't stopped as you've lost 7 pounds since January. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll continue to lose weight. Check that you're weighing and measuring your food accurately my guess also is the eating more than 1200 calories as well

No such thing as a plateau. If you eat at a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. You arent doing this by the sounds of things. There isnt a wall or plateau in the way of this....

This. I say only worry about plateau after 12 weeks, other than that your just re adjusting if you really didn't do any exercise before your body could still be in a state of shock.

One point though, are you eating back exercise calories? At your height you deffinitly need to be netting at least 1200kcals
