Water consumption

Anyone else have trouble consuming the daily amount of water our bodies need to function properly? I have the worst time getting in my daily amount of water needed. I love water and it's the only thing I drink. When my doctor told me about a 1,200 cal diet he changed my life. I always knew I needed to lose weight, but never knew how. My doctor told me to go on a 1,200 cal diet and to find a diet boxed meal that I liked ( smart one, lean cuisine) ect. and keep track of my cals. He also told me not to drink any of my cals, so I stick with water which works well for me cuz I love water. The problem is I just don't drink enough. I have to get a 2litter and fill it with water and have it by my side all day so I drink. You would think that would work, but not so much. I can't say I really like lemon in my water after the first few drinks so that does not seem to work either. I am thinking about setting my phone alarm for every hour and telling my self I have to dink a few glasses at the time. I hope that works cuz I know I will start feeing so much better not being so dehydrated all the time. I was wondering if anyone has this problem too?

If you pee clear, you're probably okay. What about black coffee, tea, water enhancers?

Your doctor told you to eat nothing but frozen meals at 1200 calories a day? Sounds boring. You can lose weight eating other things too, you know. And as long as you log accurately, could probably even eat more and lose

  • Oh I do eat other things. That was just the start of learning to live on a 1,200 cal diet. I have lost 101 lbs a few years ago. I was just saying I never knew how many cals in intake to lose weight. I took his advise and I learned how to make a diet that works for me. I have learned so much in the last few years about food and cals. I mostly have the boxed meals for dinner sometimes lunch. I feel I am really good at making delishes meals of my own that are low cals and good for me. I just need to drink the water to flush all the fat away. They say you lose weight so much faster if you drink a lot of water. I am just so mad I can't seem to drink enough water. I am doing so good with the food and keeping track of my cals the next is to get better with the water. I love coffee but it makes me pee so much and with my week bladder and peeing all the dang time already I really don't wanna do that. I might try it tho and stop being a baby. I need to try everything that will help so thanks for the suggestions I will definitely try them.

You really don't need as much water as all that. As long as you're not thirsty and your pee is alright. I drink a 1.5l bottle through out the day most days and only have more if I'm particularly thirsty. If you're eating fresh fruit and veg, you're probably getting loads of water.

I'm glad you eat other things. However, this statement confuses me. Water is great for the body, since the body is mostly comprised of water, it's important to keep up your water intake for hydration and maintaining balance but it doesn't flush fat away. What gets rid of fat is a calorie deficit and getting proper nutrition, along with exercise (preferably heavy lifting or body weight exercises). You tend to lose better when properly hydrated because it helps eliminates any mask of weight loss like sodium or exercise water retention. Don't worry so much about drinking a ton. As long as you're peeing regularly and functioning fine, there's really no need to pinpoint a certain amount to drink to.

I hate water and really only drink it when I exercise. The rest of the time I drink watered down Wyler's lemonade, which is less that 5c a glass. I count that as water and it seems to have worked for me. Drink what feels comfortable. There's liquid in the majority of foods we eat. As some people said, as long as your pee is clear to light yellow, you're ok.

I think I plugged my water consumption goal about approximately half my body weight (in ounces). However, I'm going to up my minimum water consumption to 2L per day and allow other drink options (e.g., tea and pressed juices) bump me up to 3L.
