How fast on C25K App?

Hi everyone,

I started doing the C25K app, but I don't really know what speed to run/walk. I am using the app while I am on a treadmill, so what speeds should I be walking/running? I usually walk at 3.5, then run anywhere from 5-7. What should I be doing?

    Run at whatever pace you are comfortable with. The benefit of the program in my opinion is developing the habit to run multiple times per week. If you are running between 5-7 maybe start running at 6, if a workout is too intense bump it down to 5. Once you can run a 5k focus on gradually bumping up the speed until you get to 7 and beyond.

    I'm pretty sure the guidelines for C25k state that if you can run slower - do it. It's not about speed, that will come. You need to build endurance first and foremost.

    If you can't carry on a conversation, you're doing it wrong.

    This. 4 is a comfortable walking pace for me, and I run at 5 or 6. When I complete the program I will then focus on increasing my speed. :)

    I suppose to each their own. I never understood the "If you can't carry a conversation you are doing it wrong." When I run, I run hard. But I also run for time, not distance (14 minute two mile, which is fast for me). So I suppose it can depend on WHY you are running .

    Couch to 5k is the first step in distance running.

    The recommendation that the program developers give you is to run as slowly as you possibly can. Start at 5 and press the down arrow until you can no longer manage a running stride.
