Sword Play

Used to do this a lot with a dummy sword i created , i created a nice hilt and just carved a nice piece of wood into a blunt instrument.

I'm really surprised hardly anyone does it anymore there's hundreds of different methods of doing it , and its really really good cardio and your arms get a good work out to depending on what your aiming for,

Anyone other than me ever tried it or? Or been curious?

Its great fun.

I was talking about wanting to do this just last night!! My sister boyfriend knows a fella that takes a class pretty close to me and nearly everyone in it is an extra in Game of Thrones because they know how to do it :D

My husband and I do occasionally sword fight with Shinai practice swords! It is a lot of fun and is a great workout. You can pick up these for next to nothing and they make a great noise when you fight. At any rate it's great fun but we don't get to do as often as we should. Perhaps now that weather is nicer we will make it a point to do at least once a week. Thanks for this and happy fighting!

Oh and my 8 year old daughter loves it too! Great family fun!

if you guys are really interested in this as a work out, you need to check out the Association of Renaissance Martial Arts.(ARMA)

they have been teaching actual sword fighting (better than fencing) for a long while.

    It is a good workout.
  • Honestly, I am so glad it isn't.
