Kevin Trudeau has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term. After listening to a plea for leniency, the judge
Trudeau has been a long-time scam artist selling diet books and supplements and recently had become one of the most visible proponents of HCG weight loss plans.
Now if they can only do the same to Dr Oz!
Seriously, not everyone is a scientist, and not everyone has the ability to independently evaluate the daily bombardment of "scientific claims" about health, fitness, weight loss, etc.
However, a reasonable person should be able to ascertain the character of the person making such claims and exercise some caution. In this case, it would take only a few minutes on the internet to determine the checkered past of on Mr Trudeau, and only a few more to find out the overwhelming amount of science that debunks the whole HCG scam in general.
Weight loss scams all follow the same pattern--they involve "exotic" foods, supplements, or eating plans that are "new discoveries". They promise fast results with little or no effort, or no change in eating or behavior. The only "proof" they offer is vague "testimonials".
It's always the same strategy and it's always a bunch of crap.

sentenced the best-selling author to 10 years in prison, citing Trudeau’s decades-long history of fraud and calling him “deceitful to the core.”

because he's a quack...cutting edge raspberry ketones and green bean coffee extract??? really?
I have watched a few of his shows well parts of them and I felt like I was in a kindergarden class and he was pandering to the LCD...
I had to change the channel it was so bad.0 -

From what I see with Dr Oz...............he is a very knowledgeable Dr, but has let fame and $$$ go to his head so he is no longer there to help people. He is there for the big $$$ and contracts.0 -

Yeah he's knowledgeable about how to sucker desperate people into buying unnecessary supplements and misleading them about what's "healthy".0 -

They need to do a LOT more of this. If you can't back a claim with a legitimate and well designed, double blind, peer reviewed study with a large enough sample size, then GTFO with any health claims.I love Dr. Oz...I don't know why you would say that. Statements like this make me lose hope in humanity's ability to think and reason...
Either that or I must give you props for your extreme mad sarcasm which has fooled a lot of MFPers.0 -
"...in his three decades of fraud, Trudeau had taken on more than a dozen different aliases and even used his mother’s Social Security number to perpetrate a scam."
Wow... I didn't realize the full level of douchebaggery.
And puh'lease! Doctor Oz is next in line... pushing whatever product he is paid to promote. It's ludicrous.0 -

I know that the supplements (raspberry ketones, green coffee bean extract, etc) are unecessary, however another issue is that after Dr. Oz promotes something, a million different two-bit companies will hop on the band wagon and start selling crappy versions of said supplement. Some versions of raspberry ketones really do help! 99% of them don't, because they're made for pennies and sold for $6 on eBay.0 -

Might I also add, can we finally start prosecuting doctors and 'clinics' that are still prescribing HCG to patients for weight loss?
It's been almost a year now since my mom, cousin and I had our big falling out over their HCG use. I'm seriously ready for them to realize/admit it's wrong.0 -

Can we go a little easy on the Dr Oz fan?
She is new here, and this was her first post in the forums. You all know there is a learning curve. Not everyone realizes that he is a quack until they come here and realize how easy it is to lose weight without the snake oil he is pushing.0 -
