Need advice about losing weight!

Ok, so recently I've started losing weight, not eating healthy, not going to the gym, just eating less and drinking a lot of water (2-3 litres a day) I'm 18 male 5 ft 10 152 lbs, I walk around about 40-60 minutes everyday, do exercise a few days a week like running up and down the stairs for 15 minues, and I do 200 push ups everyday, I worked that out to be around 500 calories burned on average everyday from exercise, plus the calories my BMI burns which is around 2000 calories. So as I said I've not been eating healthy really, I've been eating about 1 or 2 veggies or fruits a day, like baked beans and a banana and water, and I eat for dinner maybe a steak baguette with cheese one day, and another day I would eat sausage rolls and beans, I am trying to eat around 1500 calories a day and not go over that.. Since I started eating less last November I have lost 1 stone, so my question is, is it ok to be eating what I want as long as I burn more calories than I eat? I don't eat really bad things like McDonalds or anything, once a week I'll have one bad meal like Quesidillas but even then i will only go over my limit by 100 calories and eat 1600. Thanks!

Well I am on the plan to where you loose 2 pounds a week and I am limited to 1480 calories a week which helps a lot.
You could do the same, as long as you stick with it and are patient.
I even went and bought me a treadmill.0 -

BMR - is the number of calories your body would use if you stayed in bed all day. Whatever number you decide on... I recommend you don't go lower than that. Fast weight loss sacrifices lean muscle mass. There's a price.

2 pounds a week is pretty aggressive.....this is for someone with 75 pounds (or more) to lose (sorry, this in pounds not stones)
Pounds per week
75+ lbs to lose 2 lb range
Between 40 - 75 lbs to lose 1.5 lb range
Between 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lb range
Between 15-25 lbs to lose 1 -.50 lb range
Less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs range
Protien is your most important macro (protein, fat, carbs) for maintaining muscle. You can exercise all you want to maintain muscle....but if you don't eat enough, and don't get a decent amount of protein....muscle will still be used as fuel.
I don't eat "clean" .....but I don't eat fast food very often either. I'm hoping to improve my diet.....for a lifetime. You want good habits, so you can keep the weight from creeping back up.0 -
You will lose weight eating less calories than you burn. It doesn't matter what those calories are.
You will lose FAT if a good amount of those calories come from protein and you do resistance training to preserve muscle mass.
You will feel your best if you get a well-balanced diet with adequate protein, fat, and carbs to meet your macro targets as well as necessary fiber and other micronutrients (in other words, eat your veggies).
ETA: read this for help with macros: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/819055-setting-your-calorie-and-macro-targets
You listed good protein sources, but it matters how many grams you take in per day. And why are you trying to lose weight, exactly...?0 -
The short answer is you'll still lose weight as long as you are burning more than you consume. The minimum you should "net" each day is 1200 calories or your body will think it's starving and start storing all of your food calories (and you'll very likely feel very tired and hungry). I ate what I wanted and still lost over 70 pounds this way. That said, I felt a lot better and had a lot more energy when I started eating healthier. Good luck!0

I'm confused, why are you trying to lose weight? You're on the low end of healthy weight for your height as it is, and those calorie goals you are talking about seem extremely low for your height and age. Are you sure what you're after is weight loss and not body recomp?0

Yes all those foods have protein. How much depends upon portions? When you are done logging food for the day look at your goals on the bottom.....has you protein goal been met? The generic goal MFP sets is on the low side. So make sure you "at least" meet this goal. Going over on protein is fine. Many MFP users will bump up the generic protein goal.0 -

Slow your roll, man. I'm 5'10" and 153, but I'm all about body composition now and maintaining my lean mass (check my pics), and I eat ~2500 cals.
What in the world do you need to lose more weight for??0 -

If you're talking BMI, it's actually dead in the middle (I'm right there too). But I agree with the body recomp comment.0 -

I had to Google to see who he is... but, even I wanna be like Enrique Iglesias.
To answer your original question, you can lose weight eating at a deficit, no matter what you eat. But, remember, you don't get to choose where the weight comes off from. If you're already skinny-fat, you may find yourself downright Mr Burns-like if you lose more weight. You sound like a perfect candidate for resistance training.0 -
